Vaud overview

This region of Switzerland, bordering France and Lake Geneva, is home to villages such as Lausanne, Montreux, Vevey, Lavaux and Lutry. Vaud has long attracted tourists with its Swiss food (live your fondue dreams here), excellent vineyards and incredible scenery. Artists and writers discovered Vaud in the 19th century, and literary visitors have included Dostoyevsky, Flaubert and Graham Greene. Roman history, chalet architecture, the Château de Chillon and village markets transport visitors to another era.
