Isle Royale National Park is located on the largest island in Lake Superior. Its isolated location, only accessible by boat or seaplane, has allowed Isle Royale to remain a primitive wilderness. Designated as a UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve, the park is home to moose, wolves and beavers, as well as a large variety of birds and fish. Reserve a spot on the Park Service's Ranger III, a ship that ferries visitors across 73 miles of water, from mainland Michigan to the island wilderness.

spent 5 nights at Rock Harbor Lodge with group - rooms very basic but clean and comfortable, park rangers were informative, restaurant food was good but pricey. . didn't see any moose - moose...more

The only reason I didn't rate it an excellent was because the food was bland and tasteless in both the Dining Room and the Grill at Rock Harbor Lodge. Granted we did not travel for the food, but it...more

We went to Isle Royale scuba diving through RLT Divers out of Grand Portage, MN. We took a 2 hr. boat ride there and then enjoyed! Mostly we were there to scuba dive but we did check out Windigo...more
