To begin, the resort is 20-25 kms away from Munnar in ‘Chinnakanal’. It is an excellent location & has a nice drive from Munnar uptil here.
We were 2 couples with kids & were allotted 2 bedroom cottage (no.225) for our 3 night stay.
We had a great feeling as soon as we entered the resort. Excellent landscaping, nicely built stone cottages, huge picturesque area & serene ambience.
But our pleasant feelings stopped there.
I feel that a good resort is a place where you relax, stretch yourselves & rejuvenate. But this resort does not assist one on above, because of reasons like -
- Small & tiny bedrooms.
- Equally Small Toilet & Shower area.
- Uncomfortable furniture in Hall & very uncomfortable bed.
- Bad Food.
As soon as we entered our cottage, we found it to be extremely small for a resort of this scale.
For our kids – they placed a shaky metal bed in hall, which was bad & it was impossible for anyone to sleep on that. I had to remove the mattress & place the same on ground.
The cottage had a 21” television which was shoved under the steps & did not give a nice look to interiors. The rooms had good balcony with nice views.
Overall a cosy cottage & the bedroom can strictly accommodate a ‘loving couple’ only.
The worst part of this resort is the restaurant & food. It is said that “food is first eaten with one’s eyes”.
At Mountain club – when you look at the buffet spread, your appetite actually dies.
Absolutely bad presentation & no staff member bother to clean up the mess around the buffet, leave alone decorating the food.
The finished items are not ‘spread out’ but ‘dumped’ in the containers by the harried staff.
Broken Idlis, spoiled omelettes, dripping dal & curries, ice-cream bowl without scoopers etc are so bad.
The restaurant timings are unusual too – from 7.30 to 9.30 in morning & in evening.
I have never come across any resort that has less than 3 hours of proper breakfast / dinner time window.
And if you happen to reach around 9.15-9.30 AM or PM – most items are in finishing stages & one can feel that he is eating the ‘LEFT-OVERS’
The finished items are not filled, UNLESS one requests for same. I faced this during all 6 times, that I had dinner / breakfast over here.
So it is truly meant for early risers /early to bed kind of people only.
Other Comments which I can share are –
- SPA centre is just average & nothing exceptional, considering that one is in a spa destination like Kerala.
- Most Kids activities are on chargeable basis & very expensive.
- No hair dryer provided which is expected in such expensive resort situated at a hill station.
- No Television in bedrooms.
- Staff is Warm & reciprocative but not service oriented.
Overall, a nice resort which can be made ‘Top Class’ – if the management makes an effort.
If you stay in a 2 bedroom cottage, ask for cottage numbered 230 & above.
These are at height...
