The hotel can proove tricky to find due to Granville's one way system, just keep heading down hill into the centre. Once faced with the casino turn right uphill and then up the steep ramp on the left (signposted Mercure). Underground parking is 7 euros per night, with lifts direct to the rooms. The hotel provided comfortable clean rooms with a good breakfast. The staff spoke English and were very professional and friendly.From the lift you can access the beach and promenade with excellent views.
Granville itself was a very intresting town and the locals were really friendly,well worth a visit.

Cycling round Brittany/Normandy I stayed in different hotels but found this to be by far the best. More like a 4 star hotel, Good room size, friendly staff at reception, all room facilities such as tv ( yes CRT but they are changing these in all rooms as I speak), kettle, fridge, iron, free wi fi and modern style bathroom. There was a small balcony but a large sunbathing area just beside the breakfast area both which have superb views over the ocean. Breakfast had all the usual items to choose from. it was more expensive at 14 euros and there is no on site restaurant which could make the walk up the hill more difficult for elderly etc. The town centre is close nearby.

great family room if you travel with children, small balcony, bunkbeds and loft with double bed. breakfast good, great ocean views from table. friendly staff, hotel a bit of walk up hill, but our 4 year old didn't find it difficult. and so close to walled city.
