“Great Location near Turgutreis Bodrum Turkey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2007

We had a very pleasant stay at the Club Armonia all inclusive hotel nr Turgutreis. We are a couple in our late forties who wanted rest and relaxation from our holiday and for this the hotel is designed. It is in a small village near to the pleasant holiday resort of Turgutreis which is easily accessable via the DOLMUS buses(non smoking) that stop right infront of the hotel (when hailed) and drop you in the centre of your destination (Turgutreis is only a few miles, or in the other direction Bodrum is about 45mins away). The hotel has a lovely sea front location with its own beach and a beautiful swimming pool, plenty of sun loungers, even when fully booked, although as a popular location for other European nationals if you want a prime spot you have to get those towels out (I never bothered and always got a lounger). The food was plentiful and gorgeous I was convinced we'd put on pounds but because the food is healthy turkish fare we didn't gain weight but actually lost weight, ps if you're a chips with everything type who wants to eat English food then why are you concidering going to Turkey? this definitly isn't the hotel for you. The all inclusive drinks were disappointing, we dont drink alcohol and the fruit juices on offer were squash and horrible, but they did offer water tea or coffee. No tea making facilities in rooms and very few smoke free areas in the hotel, only one small smoke free zone in the dining room and no smoke free areas in any of the other bars or sitting areas.
The rooms are very basic and as we were sold this as a 5 sun hotel the room was a disappointment. There is aircon which is good, but the bed was hard and the bedding was hopeless one small sheet which didn't cover us both and a small blanket, only one pillow each. Only one power point in the bedroom (beside the one the TV was plugged into) and only two English speaking TV channels both News. The shower room was pretty rough, a dirty shower, an uneven tiled floor which wasn't well cleaned, scratchy towels but did have a hairdryer although the one we had was very dangerous as the wiring was exposed (in a bathroom this is a very bad idea) and a power point. The shower rooms are by far the worst thing about this hotel and they should be upgraded .
Would we stay here again? well yes actually, because the position of the hotel is so good, right on the sea front within easy reach of Turgutreis but not in the middle of a noisy resort. The hotel facilities were good the staff nice and the Turkish bath and health spa very nice, I had three massages and they were worth every penny. I would recommend the hotel to couples seeking rest and relaxation (and sun worship) who are not interested in being entertained and are willing to put up with simple accomodation and great Turkish food.
Tips- Beware of the tour company trips they tend to run late we only did one and pickup was half an hour late in the blazing sun, others did more and told horror stories.
- Always haggle in the shops and market stalls (not very English but it's expected)
- Take Euros and Pounds you will get Turkish in change but they like Euros and Pounds, and it makes it easier to tell what you are actually paying, items can be marked in any of the three currencies and it is confusing.
- If you dont smoke it might not be the destination for you although all transportation we went on was non-smoking.
- Bodrum airport is a bit of a nightmare, we had to que up in the hot sun to get into the airport, make sure you have a hat with you just in case.
-Shops stay open very late so shop in the late afternoon when it's cooler.
-It's about an hour to the airport (we think) but we paid for a transfer and had to do so many pick ups on the way it took us more like two and a half hours on the bus (both ways) so it might be nicer to get a taxi (but more expensive).

Have a great holiday, I hope this helps you make up your mind if this is the hotel for you. Julie.

stayed at the armonia in september had a wonderful time. had originally booked the Crystal hotel but thankfully I transferred it when reading the reviews.

If you lke a drink at night, my advice is when your likely enough to get a glass then hang on to it for grim death ! wine in a plastic beaker simply does not taste the same.

Really enjoyed this hgotel dont let the room put you off on arrival its very basic but believe me you wont be in it much.
I am willing to answer any queries.

“Had a lovely time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2007

My husband and I stayed here for just under a week back in June. We transfered to this hotel due to contracting food poisoning in another hotel (Crystal Bodrum- please avoid)!

We were absolutely thrilled with the Armonia, the food was excellent and we loved the beachfront location. There was never any chance of going hungry, when the restaurant was shut the snack bar was available. They also brought out MORE FOOD after the evening entertainment.

The rooms were large and clean, the bathroom was a tad on the compact side but who cares. The only thing I would say against the rooms is that there were no balconies, but unless you go on holiday to remain in the room all the time then it's not really a problem.

There were plenty of places to sit around the pool or on the beach, probably because there weren't too many brits there putting their towels out at 6am!

The pool area could be a tad noisy during the day with loud music and games etc, but the beach was quiet. The sea was cold but nice as it was 50 degrees c while we were there, it was also safe for swimming.

I would definately return to this hotel again and wish we'd gone there from the start of the holiday. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the night time shows had a lot of hard work put into them. There were also plenty of areas to sit in the evening.

My only complaint would be the amount of rude Russians staying there with extremely badly behaved children, who were allowed to run riot through the dining room. Even so we enjoyed ourselves and would go back in a second.

“Great Hotel In The Middle Of Nowhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2007

Just returned from a week in Turkey, The hotel we had originally booked had closed due to bankruptcy and we got sent here without any notice excepted when we landed at the airport.

On arrival we thought where are they taking us, it’s in the middle of nowhere, there was only 2 supermarkets and 1 restaurant outside the hotel. Once at reception we checked in they were very helpful. The porters took our luggage to our rooms and showed us the rooms and hotel facilities.

THE ROOMS! Where to start. Very basic, Air con not cold only cool even leaving it on all day and night it still did not feel like it worked to the correct temp. Would call the room more like a 2* room except with a fan! We had a double bed and single there was still a bit of room to move around, but not much. There was no balcony only a window which had mosquito netting on. There was also a TV with no English channels on, an empty mini fridge for you to fill yourself, which if you do don’t use the hotel supermarket as it is expensive and you would be better buying from the 2 outside the complex. The bathroom again was basic, NO PLUG in the sink so take your own with you. There was always hot water when ever you wanted it. The cleaners were in every single day of our holiday with clean sheets and towels even if you had hung your towels up to use again they would change them.

THE POOL was very nice, a little tip get up early if you want a sun bed, people were putting towels out the night before after the bar had closed. Pool area was always clean, no litter of plastic glasses laying around was plenty of staff on hand making sure it was clean. The pool over looked the sea so like me if you don’t like the beach you can lay by the pool and see the sea. A few steps from the pool was the beach again was very clean with no little. The hotel had it’s own jetty with pool style steps into the see, so no nasty sandy feet . The sun-beds are free to use at the pool and beach but if you do want a mattress you can get one from the hotel supermarket for 2TYL a day.

THE FOOD. There is only one restaurant in the hotel and one beach side snack bar. The main restaurant had a balcony running round the outside with tables on it so you could enjoy the view while eating only problem with this is that all the doors are open and the little bit of air con that they had did not make any dent in the temp, so was quite warm inside while eating. The food itself was of good standard, if you are a picky eater you could still find something to eat even if it’s just salad or soup with fresh bread. Snack bar served food form 11AM till 5PM which was Hamburger (More like Kebab Burger), Chips and a local cheese style toasty come pancake thing was ok.

ENTERTAINMENT. They hotel had it’s own team which did there very best on what I would call a tight budget for such a big complex. It started form 9.30AM with a break for lunch and then all the way through till 11PM. With the normal pool games and beach games during the day. And your standard mime shows on an evening.

BARS. The hotel has one main bar at the pool area which is open all day long. Not enough staff at all and sometimes you would queue for 5 Min’s. Every thing was served in plastic glasses except at the start of the evening when you could get a beer in a real glass, if that happens keep it for the whole night they run out quick and don’t use them again till the next night. They use the main brand of drinks like Fanta, Sprite & Coke, but its not very cold and they don’t like giving you ice, think it’s because they have to buy it in. Local sprits Vodka, Gin, Brandy, Whiskey & Raki so get a liking for at least one before you go.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday even though we had not booked this hotel. If you are looking for a holiday without the hassle this is for you. With some excellent view’s of the coast and even the island of Kos. You will not spend a penny unless you leave, which there is no need to if you don’t want to. There was enough to keep the 2 Teenager’s we had with us entertained. Think it had something to do with the good looking entertainment bloke, but least she wasn’t asking for money.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone that asks and would return again ourselves.

They are planning to upgrade the hotel for the next season, with balcony’s, 2 extra restaurants, 24Hr all inclusive and a extra pool with slides.

“thanks , but no thanks”

The rooms are so dirty that you cannot walk on the floor. it is slippery and you risk breaking your neck. the bathroom is the same. For seven days not once did they clean it.
The beach is quite nice but it hardly compensates for the poor quality of the lodging. The food variety is ok, but I wouldn't be on its freshness.
Our conclusion: one more destionation to avoid from now on.
