We had a very pleasant stay at the Club Armonia all inclusive hotel nr Turgutreis. We are a couple in our late forties who wanted rest and relaxation from our holiday and for this the hotel is designed. It is in a small village near to the pleasant holiday resort of Turgutreis which is easily accessable via the DOLMUS buses(non smoking) that stop right infront of the hotel (when hailed) and drop you in the centre of your destination (Turgutreis is only a few miles, or in the other direction Bodrum is about 45mins away). The hotel has a lovely sea front location with its own beach and a beautiful swimming pool, plenty of sun loungers, even when fully booked, although as a popular location for other European nationals if you want a prime spot you have to get those towels out (I never bothered and always got a lounger). The food was plentiful and gorgeous I was convinced we'd put on pounds but because the food is healthy turkish fare we didn't gain weight but actually lost weight, ps if you're a chips with everything type who wants to eat English food then why are you concidering going to Turkey? this definitly isn't the hotel for you. The all inclusive drinks were disappointing, we dont drink alcohol and the fruit juices on offer were squash and horrible, but they did offer water tea or coffee. No tea making facilities in rooms and very few smoke free areas in the hotel, only one small smoke free zone in the dining room and no smoke free areas in any of the other bars or sitting areas.
The rooms are very basic and as we were sold this as a 5 sun hotel the room was a disappointment. There is aircon which is good, but the bed was hard and the bedding was hopeless one small sheet which didn't cover us both and a small blanket, only one pillow each. Only one power point in the bedroom (beside the one the TV was plugged into) and only two English speaking TV channels both News. The shower room was pretty rough, a dirty shower, an uneven tiled floor which wasn't well cleaned, scratchy towels but did have a hairdryer although the one we had was very dangerous as the wiring was exposed (in a bathroom this is a very bad idea) and a power point. The shower rooms are by far the worst thing about this hotel and they should be upgraded .
Would we stay here again? well yes actually, because the position of the hotel is so good, right on the sea front within easy reach of Turgutreis but not in the middle of a noisy resort. The hotel facilities were good the staff nice and the Turkish bath and health spa very nice, I had three massages and they were worth every penny. I would recommend the hotel to couples seeking rest and relaxation (and sun worship) who are not interested in being entertained and are willing to put up with simple accomodation and great Turkish food.
Tips- Beware of the tour company trips they tend to run late we only did one and pickup was half an hour late in the blazing sun, others did more and told horror stories.
- Always haggle in the shops and market stalls (not very English but it's expected)
- Take Euros and Pounds you will get Turkish in change but they like Euros and Pounds, and it makes it easier to tell what you are actually paying, items can be marked in any of the three currencies and it is confusing.
- If you dont smoke it might not be the destination for you although all transportation we went on was non-smoking.
- Bodrum airport is a bit of a nightmare, we had to que up in the hot sun to get into the airport, make sure you have a hat with you just in case.
-Shops stay open very late so shop in the late afternoon when it's cooler.
-It's about an hour to the airport (we think) but we paid for a transfer and had to do so many pick ups on the way it took us more like two and a half hours on the bus (both ways) so it might be nicer to get a taxi (but more expensive).
Have a great holiday, I hope this helps you make up your mind if this is the hotel for you. Julie.
