My husband and I traveled to Costa Rica for 2 weeks to celebrate our honeymoon. During our 3 days in Monteverde we decided to stop at this Inn to check for vacancy. We were so pleased to find out they had several rooms available. We stayed in #7, which was a small "chalet" duplex situated up a small hill. The room was very spacious and decorated in mostly wood furnishing, which fit with the Swiss Alps feel of the hotel. The rooms did not have A/C as others have said, but we found no need, as it was quite chilly in the evenings. The owners were a very lovely couple who were quite friendly and accommodating- I had a stomach ache one evening and my husband went down to the restaurant for some soup after the kitchen has closed. They heated up some soup and added a basket of bread on a tray for me to eat in the room. They also have a handful of beautiful and friendly dogs loved to follow you around and play. We had a rental car, so getting to and from the park was not a big deal, but I can see how it might be a little difficult for those without, as the hotel is on the edge of town, but it only took us about 5-10 minutes to get there. We will definitely stay here again!

Can't ask for much more from a B&B. The owners, Walter and his wife, went out of their way to provide my friends and I exceptional service. They made us food after the kitchen had closed, organised the zip lining excursion for us and provided us with some of the cutest B&B rooms I have seen (Swizz style furnishings were a great touch). Not to mention that the price was phenomenal for all we received.

If I had one negative, I would say that the beds were only “comfortable” and not “exceptionally comfortable”. Not sure if the owners read the previous TripAdvisor comments and stepped their game up, but this place is definitely worth a visit.

We'd been travelling all day and had our fair share of nerve rattling encounters on the Costa Rican roads. We pull into the Swiss Hotel and are greeted by Walter and his wife, two of the warmest, friendliest B&B proprieters around. The kitchen was closed and the cook had left, but that didn't stop them from going out back to whip us up a hearty goulash stew served with some ice cold beer (they even had a German brew on offer). They organised our next day's activities (zip-lining) by recommending the best place and making the calls for us. Breakfast was great - a little small on the portion size - but otherwise great, with a delicious range of teas and - like the other posts - one must try the marmalade, it's incredible. If they hadn't done enough already, they helped us find gas when our tank was almost empty: the breakfast chef knew someone local, who was duly called and nice enough to wait out on the road to help us find him, and sell us some gas. Talk about local knowledge and willingness to help. Overall: a lovely stay with helpful, warm service. Would return and definitely recommend.   

I am not quite sure why the other reviews are so negative. We had a great experience. First off, we didn't have reservations but needed to stop driving around 7-7:30pm because it was dark and the road to Monteverde was rough driving! We stopped in and asked for a room. The couple that ran the place welcomed us and asked us if we would like dinner as well. No, the rooms don't have AC but who needs AC when you are in the mountains and its 60 degrees outside at night?!? You are at 7000 feet and we were there during the middle of the summer! The food was hearty, the rooms are comfortable, private and easily accessible rooms to the parking spaces! Breakfast is included in the morning-great coffee, excellent service and a few animals to keep you company on the grounds. The dining room is warm and inviting! The owners are Swiss and are a good catch for European and US travelers alike. The owners are also well versed with the area attractions and roads. They were able to recommend full service and inexpensive tour options of Santa Elena and Monteverde. Ask for extra marmalade at breakfast, it was yummy! THANK YOU for a great experience!
