We were wowed by the beautiful grounds and the very clean, dark wood paneled rooms, even when arriving in a rain storm. My kids loved the dogs, the gardens, the many interesting guests we were with, and the Swiss/European cuisine at the restaurant (ask for the Swiss apple juice . . . worth the bumpy drive up the mountain!). It's hard to separate Sta. Elana/Monteverde from the hotel itself . . . the whole place is magic and the kids all told me this was their favorite place in Costa Rica . . . but they all keep mentioning the Swiss Hotel Miramontes specifically and want to go back!
