We visited early in the tourist season, so thins were very quiet and the restaurant , often we were the only people in it. However, while the accommodations were rustic, its in a good location, has good trails for hiking around, we found the hotel staff very helpful and kind, and I think we all agreed that the dinners we experienced in the restaurant ( although they had run out of a few items) were scrumptious. The servers/chef's were very wiling to make additions or accommodate our requests and friendly about it. They had a jalepeano cheese sauce that was served with filet mignons, and we also asked them to serve over chicken, it was off the chart.
The rooms are decent, the beds okay, could use some new linens, but the front porches were perfect and we watched the sun set and rise every day ( 3 days) and we were never disappointed.
We did the Trapiche tour, the night hike (o.k.), and zip line tours from the hotel, which staff were very helpful in arranging. Trapiche tour was the highlight. They have the whole thing dialed in in Monteverde for tourism, you just need to ask and you'll find what you need or desire.
WHile the grounds were steep for walking around it also forces you to appreciate the beautiful area around and I know I found it therapeutic to walk and the trails on the property were good too.
We actually got the wifi in our rooms, but barely, but they also have a computer room open 24 hrs. We could grab or fb when in the restaurant. I mean you're on vacation, its not critical you have access to the internet in my opinion.
