“Excellent service averts disaster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Had this review been written on the first night of our stay it would have had a series of black marks against it. The room we were given (229) was tired and in need of refurbishment. It had a background smell of cigarettes. We were so tired after our flight that we could not find the energy to complain. Next morning we were resolved to find a new hotel - Until we met Nantha (I hope I have spelt your name correctly) one of the nicest people I have ever met. He apologised about the room - he explained that the hotel was being steadily refurbished and the room we had had not yet been refurbished, would we like to look at a suite instead at no extra charge. Needless to say the suite was far better than our first room and we stayed. He went on to become a invaluable source of information, and always helpful - I hope the hotel realise what a diamond they have.

Room Tip: If you are not happy with something tell them.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property and giving us your feedback. Nantha is a diamond. He is our Motel Manager and has been with us for 27 years. The level of service he provides to guests is amazing. In 2010 he won the award for Best Property Staff Member in any department at our Best Western Convention. Thanks again.

“Not too bad. Close to tram. Good for families on a budget.”

Hi All!

I am from Melbourne to begin with but decided to stay with 4 other member of my family who were visiting from interstate. I had seen this motel every day on my way to work & knew the area & the transport links available though I had no idea what the actual hotel was like. My family were on a tight budget but still wanted to be relatively close to the CBD. This motel was chosen based on these factors.

The motel is at the end of Sydney Rd (famous for alternative food & clothes & at the other end, famous for its delicious arab & turkish restaurants!). It is literally across the road from a tram which runs from early til late approx every 10-15 mins. There is a 7/11, Kmart, McDonalds, KFC, Chinese shop & Chemist within 5 min walk from here as well.

In terms of the staff at the hotel, the night we arrived we were greeted by a charming man at reception who checked us all in efficiently & he was very friendly & helpful. On the second day, one of my relatives went to reception to ask for direction somewhere & someone else (a woman) was at the front desk & was apparently a lot less than helpful. According to my relative, quite rude & didn't know where the location was that they were looking for anyway.

The rooms are located up a flights of stairs as the car park is underneath so if you are disabled (one of my relatives is slightly disabled) I wouldn't recommend this place. My relative who has a disability struggled a bit with this I must say.

The rooms are fine. TV, Kitchenette, nice bathroom, large enough rooms, plenty of blankets & pillows in the cupboards, beds are big & comfy. No complaints there. Small balcony though.

Tip: If arriving with small luggage, take the tram from Elizabeth St outside Flinders Station to the motel but if you arrive with a lot of luggage do take a taxi as it can be a bit of a haul packing all the luggage onto a tram & near impossible during Melbourne's peak hours!
Also, do not catch the train there with luggage. The train station is about 8 min walk from the hotel but just do not do it with luggage!

Would probably stay again considering all though.

With regards to directions, if our staff don't know where a destination is, we google it for our guests without fail. Perhaps there was some mis-communication between your relative and the staff member. We strive to give our guests excellent customer service and aim to please.
Unfortunately we do not have rooms that cater to special needs guests. We do have a handful of rooms on the ground floor (Queen Room and 1 Bedroom Apartment) but they don't cater for more than 3 people.
Thanks for your feedback. It is always appreciated.

“Convenient and comfortable”

Conveniently placed with easy access to the motorway and a tram stop outside which takes you directly to the centre of Melbourne. Rooms spacious and newly renovated. A respectable breakfast at standard rate. Though it is on the corner of an intersection, noise was no bother. Free "do it yourself" laundry and ample free car parking spaces. A Seven Eleven store right next door and an excellent Italian Restaurant, Sammy's Trattoria, .5 of a kilometer up the road.

“Ideal location and great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

We've now stayed in one of their apartment rooms on many visits to Melbourne. These apartment rooms are spacious and have all you need to be self-sufficient. With a shopping centre just 100 metres away and the tram to the City right at the door, it's an ideal place to stay if you want to be away from the City Centre but still have everything accessible.
Topping off our positive feelings about this accommodation is the helpfulness of the owners and staff. Everyone on the Reception at various times of the day, night and weekend are unfailingly helpful and welcoming.

Room Tip: There are motel rooms and apartments. We always go for an apartment, since we generally stay in Mel...
