“A terrific place in Atholl Estates”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

From the beginning it was clear this had to be an special place. Lena and Colin where extremely helpful from the first mails we wrote, asking us about our preferences for the room. We had a warm welcome by Lena and she was instantly providing lots of valuable information, regarding public transport -we were travelling in Scotland without a private car-, walks around the village, etc. The house is wonderful, with an excellent fully equipped lounge, and a fantastic dining room with nice views to the house garden and to them well feeded birds. Our room was at first floor, with tasteful decoration, a marvellous kingsize bed, and a perfect bathroom with an outside window -a rarity in our travel-. Breakfast was probably the better we have had in two and a half weeks in Scotland. I cannot resist to recommend the homemade whisky and orange marmelade that Lena herself does, but haggis and black pudding are other options to seriously consider. Finally, Colin drop us -and our heavy baggages- at the train station, providing us some more details about this extraordinary land and his people. A must in Atholl Estates.

“Even better the second time around!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

We had stayed at Dalgreine in 2008 and really enjoyed it, but this time it was even better. Hosts Lena and Colin are very knowledgeable about local events and attractions, and were more than willing to pack our breakfasts to-go for our early-departure day trips. The room was very roomy and comfortable, and the location was perfect to visit the nearby shopping, pubs, and the Boy Scout Jamborette (every other year at Blair Castle). Dalgreine is a must-stay B&B whenever you're in or near Blair Atholl.

“Clean, friendly, relaxing and very welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Beautiful setting and extremely friendly and accomodating hosts. The room was cosy, clean with a very large comfy bed. The breakfast was amazing....especially the black pudding and the home made whiskey marmalade. Leena was great with my 2 year old daughter, there were no other children staying so that made us feel really at ease. Unfortunately we only stayed 1 night but we really hope to come back soon.

“Beautiful location, friendly hosts, clean rooms and exceptionally welcoming service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2010

We stayed at Dalgreine Guest House for 2 nights in January 2010 whilst attending a family wedding at nearby Blair Atholl Castle. We arrived late at about 10:30pm and Colin and Lena was both there to welcome us and show us around. Three of our party had arrived earlier in the afternoon and had been welcomed with tea, coffee, raisin toast and biscuits. A roaring fire greeted us in the lounge and Colin gave us some information about the local area.

Our room was a tastlefully decorated, immaculately clean double/king size on the first floor. The bed was enormous and could have fitted about 4 people in it! The shower room was also very clean with complimentary soap and shower gel. The complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits in the room were also a welcome considering we arrived so late. There were 9 people in our party: eight adults and one baby, who was made to feel very welcome and was very well catered for. Everybody in our party were very happy with their rooms and there were no complaints about the low ceiling in the second floor bedroom, as some earlier reviews suggest.

The breakfasts were amazing: a self service buffet of cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit; followed by the choice of bagels, croissants, muffins and raisin toast or Scottish porridge or fresh salmon or a full cooked Scottish breakfast and as much toast as you can eat. Lena did an excellent job of ensuring that we were well looked after and we all agreed that it was the best breakfast we'd eaten in a long time!

We stayed at Dalgreine during one of the coldest nights of the coldest winter Britain had seen in years, yet Dalgreine was very cosy and the rooms and rest of the house were very warm. Colin very kindly cleared the snow from our cars the next morning and nothing seemed like too much trouble for him.

A stay at Dalgreine is like a home away from home and Colin and Lena couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable. I would definitely recommend this guest house 10/10

“Cosy Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

Met by the owner who was very friendly and welcoming, explained to us that the downstairs lounge was for all guests and the amenities were especially for the guests. Shown to our room which was on the top floor, bit cramped for headroom although I am 6 foot 3. The bedroom and shower room were very nice. Breakfast in the morning was very good and were seated by the co-owner who was also very friendly and welcoming, overall it was a very pleasant stay.
