“NOT SO QUIET”

We have just returned from Mango Bay, where we had a lovely holiday. BUT after the first two nights we nearly came home.
The Hotel is situated in a built up area, flanked by local bars and eating establishments.
The first night we were there we could not sleep until the VERY LOUD MUSIC and shouting ceased at 2-40,a,m, The following night a similar 'party' was playing music until well after 2-0.a.m.
On complaining to management, we were assured that this was a very unusual weekend, and everyone in the hotel had suffered . They were speaking to the local police about the incidents.
However, we were also in an apartment adjacent to the main hotel building, which is no where as comfortable as the 'superior', or de luxe rooms, and so after much searching, they managed to find us an upgrade room, - but at an additional cost.
HOWEVER I must say that the rest of the week went extremely well. The Hotel, and facilities are excellent. The restaurant, in which most of the meals were served, gave us a delicious choice of menus, and their cocktail selection was superb. There were plenty of bar staff, and we never had to wait to be served. The same goes for the restaurant, and all other areas of the hotel.
So it was a bad start - but the hotel redeemed itself. We met many people who were there on a return holiday, which is also good recommendation.
However, if I were to return, I WOULD NOT book either an apartment room, or a 'standard room(which are also near to the bar areas).

Room Tip: Choose either superior rooms alongside the pool areas, or de-luxe, or 'ocean view ' rooms...

“wedding in this hotel”

We chose this hotel to have our wedding and booked everything through Virgin. The brochure stated that we would be entitled to a free upgrade to a better room on arrival but what the hotel or Virgin don't tell you is that the hotels better rooms are usually full and the garden rooms are the only ones usually available at peak holiday times.
People book this hotel year after year and request the better rooms well in advance. So even thougtph we spent a lot of money to stay at this hotel and an extra £1,000 for our wedding there there was no upgrade for us. The garden room they gave us was very nice and very private but not as swanky as the other rooms.
Our wedding was beautiful and the hotel cannot do enough to make your day special.
The hotel is clean and well decorated, the staff are wonderful and the food is exquisite.
You book your meal slots at breakfast and then arrive at the allocated time. The menu was brilliant and we never tired of the beautiful food on offer. Meals can be eaten outside overlooking the sea or inside in the open air dinning room.
The area of hometown is lovely and friendly, the traffic stops for you when you want to cross. It's a lovely safe place to be but We found it very expensive. The Holetown festival which was on during our stay in February was brilliant, we mixed with the locals and Never felt unwelcome.
We took a ride on one of the yellow buses, that was an experience never to be forgotten, the bus played reggae music on the way to Bridgetown and even the grandma's who got on we're tapping to the beat...
We also took a trip to Crane beach which was a beautiful place to see, the sand is soft and has a pink glow and the roaring Atlantic ocean was breathtaking.
We did some Celeb spotting too on the beach just further down from Mango Bay at the famous Sandy Lane resort, frequented by Simon Cowell, Bono and of course the Roonies.
The hotel provides a free Catamaran trip to see the turtles and this is wonderful, I even got to see Cliff Richard's house from the sea. ( I am a big fan...) he was in Barbados and we missed him by a whisper in the cave Shepherd shopping resort.
All in all we absolutely fell in love with Barbados, we would go to this hotel again without question.

Anyone planning a wedding at this resort and would like any tips or to know anything about the procedure please don't hesitate to ask.

Room Tip: garden rooms are the cheapest but can be noisy because of late bars opening in the adjoining street...

Our 8th trip to Barbados and stayed in a variety of hotels ranging from expensive to the most basic, but we found our new "home" at Mango Bay !! nothing was too much trouble, and every need was catered for... first and foremost the staff were ALL amazing not one miserable face, always smiling ....everyone else has covered the rooms etc, and its funny to see the comments below because we recognise the people that have made them, this being a small friendly hotel everyone soon gets chatting !!.... will definitely be returning soon.... Rondel, Dwayne, Andre, & Cheldon get those Gordons and Schweppes ready !!!!!...

We have just stayed at this resort for the third time. We enjoyed every minute. The food is excellent and all served by staff who must be the friendliest in the world. Nothing is too much effort for this resort. It is all inclusive but the value is excellent. If you are looking for a small and friendly resort this is the one for you. The tours available from the resort are chosen by Cleston and he makes sure that everyone enjoys each trip. Thanks to everyone in the resort for such a heartwarming welcome. We will be back next year.

Room Tip: Don't stay in a standard room as you will get noise from the local bars and restaurants but this...

“Great time at Mango Bay”

We have just returned from 11 days at Mango Bay and agree with comments made by others.
It is a small hotel that has a very friendly feel. The staff are all great - they soon get to know you and there is no need to ask for particular choices - they got some blue cheese in for me and made sure it was available whenever I wanted it. They are so so polite
At 11 in the morning they come round offering drinks and the great sorbets - just right as the sun heats up.
The garden rooms are nearer to the bars in the nearby streets and some people found they are noisy after midnight - it did not worry us. If you are kept awake by noise then an upgreade may be in order.
We found the food excellent
I agree that the beach is narrrow and you have to step over some small stones before the water is suddenly very deep - could be a bit worrying if you were not confident. But the sea feels wonderful. By the way fresh beach/sunbed towels are provided every evening - along with a chocolate.
I did notice some occassional smell from the kitchen drains - but the manageress advised me that this was currently being sorted.

Like everyone else we would be happy to return here. We heard one couple say that it was their 14th visit

Room Tip: The garden rooms are in the block nearer the local streets and can be noisy late at night - an upgra...
