“A perfect 3-day escape - wish it was longer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We were delighted to come across this hotel while travelling around the island, and after seeing it just had to book in. The style is elegant, white, and Sardinian, and has around 48 rooms.
The bedrooms are small but it really didn't matter. We had a large balcony which overlooked part of the garden with the sea in the distance (see photo).
The pool is lovely - with a fabulous view out to sea, the bar/lounge is higher, and the restaurant had stunning views being higher still.
We took half-board and were very pleased with the food - 2 dinners and a lunch - and the service was excellent.
There is a frequent free shuttle to the beach - Liscia Ruja - which is just beautiful, and is safe to swim in. it is about 5 minutes drive away.
The staff at reception were gracious and helpful. And, even though the hotel rates weren't cheap we found the extras such as drinks, etc. reasonably priced. There is a small charge for WiFi, and the car park is free. If you decide not to take the car to Porto Cervo the taxi is quite expensive at around €25 each way - be sure to get a price on the return trip.

It was just delightful coming back to this beautiful hotel every evening, and I would love to return someday.

“Peace of heaven”

Small boutique hotel. Newly decorated in style. Very quiet. Although it was peak season it never felt crowded. The swimming pool is small but has a lovely view over the bay. Mixed clientele (Italian and non Italian), polite and discrete. Perfect place for relaxation and romance. Our superior room with sea view was rather small but comfortable and decorated in good taste. The balcony overlooking the swimming pool and the bay had a small table and armchairs, was not too small and proved delightful for chilling out.
The restaurant is slightely underdimensioned as far as variety of dishes on offer is concerned (we were half borad) but has a lovely view of the bay and personnel is kind and efficient.
The hotel is on a hill overlooking Cala di Volpe bay, not righ on the beach but it has an efficient shuttle to Long Beach. One of the most famous beaches of the area. Beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. Part of it is meant to be hotel's private but this year there was apparently a problem with the license so the hotel could only provide umbrellas and sun beds where everybodyelse would decide to lay out theirs. This was not adviced before arrival but still there was lot's of room for everybody at the beach, enough space between one umbrella and the other and it never felt overcrowded.
We thoroughly enjoyed the beach, and we are very picky.
I would strongly advise to use the hotel's shuttle to reach the beach for the road is terrible, a few cars went out of the beaten track and got broken. Furthermore there are only a few legal parking spaces. Watch out: don't be mislead by the long line of cars parked outside legal lots and along the road. Every day we watched the same scene: in the morning everybody parked wherever, thinking it must be permitted if so many other people do so but, sure enough every single afternoon the police was there with a fine for everybody!
The hotel is only a few kilometers (8ca) from Porto Cervo's nightlife and shops and even closer to Pevero's golf club.
Last but not least management knows its job. We would definetely recommend this place especially to couples looking for romance and relaxation. May be not to families with children given the distance from beach and town.

“Beautiful Sardegnian Hotel”

The Petra Bianca (white stone) hotel is a four star hotel located right above the much more expensive and exclusive Cale de Volpe hotel, about 8 km from Porto Cervo. But I give this hotel 5 stars! It's a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. The staff are very friendly and very helpful, and most are multi-lingual. We fell in love with Roberto the beach bus driver. The bus is free of charge and takes you to the local beach, where there is a private section for the hotel with beds and umbrellas provided. The beach is magnificent, and that's something coming from an Australian! The whole world knows our beaches are amazing.
If you are the sort of person who looks for the negatives in ahotel then I am sure you would find some faults with the Petra Bianca, but if you look at the hotel in context, then you will see its beauty and charm.
The pool and bar area are beautiful, and the views are stunning.
The rooms are a little small but charming nonetheless, and most have a little terrace or balcony, and the views are wonderful. Rooms have a large flat screen TV and good wireless signal.
Breakfast is included in the room rate and is quite good.
The hotel also has a parking area which is great because you really do need a car if you want to get around and explore Sardegna.
The hotel has a small gym, which has one treadmill and some equipment. There is a personal trainer available too.
Sardegna is a wonderful place to relax and also to explore. the nightlife in Porto Rotondo and other places is fantastic too.
OK, so now for the negatives... Of which there are not many.
I was there for the last 2 weeks in August and even though a friend of mine joined me for the last week, and I met another single woman in the hotel, I was essentially a solo traveller. Being surrounded by loved up honeymooners and couples got a bit old after a while. Also, even though we were lucky to have great weather for most of the time, in the last 3 days the Mistral was blowing and it was impossible to stay on the beach. The wind also made it quite chilly at night. And finally, you really need a car if you want to get around on Sardegna.I took mine over on the ferry and was very glad I did so. I beleive there is a bus service but we didn't use it, and I was told that taxis are very expensive there.

In brief, when we go back to Sardinia, we will be staying at Petra Biance. Calm, clean, picturesque, lovely, excellent staff and every single detail well thought off. The location of this hotel and the scenery is very very nice, away from the fuss, but close to everything (you need a car wherever you are in Porto Cervo/Cala di Volpe). For families with kids, this place is also very "children-friendly". For Stefania, Piedro, Paula and all the other staff, a BIG THANK YOU for making this trip a great experience
