I just read a review that must have been written by a true cynic, one who wanted any reason to miscommunicate on this establishment.
I have.had property on the Island for 6 years. Went back to sell it, and stayed at West bay lodge for the 1st time, having stayed at the best and worst.
What a gem of a place amongst faux diamonds.
Milos and Celest are truly remarkable hosts as well as the hired help, who I got to know (I talk to everyone whether they want to or not) who all exhibit a desire to make the visitor relaxed and appreciative.
Food is incredibly fresh and cooked to Island taste, just as Hondurans like it. Eat in France if you want frog food.
Bungalows are extremely clean, a safe in the room, cable TV, and a hammock on the porch, which I used everyday. Bathrooms are spotless and hot water plentiful.
Animals abound and are friendly, can be watched for hours, and the parrots are a blast. all are well kept pets and not ferrel.
The lodge is a 2 minute slow walk to the beach, where people watching is at its' best, but NO no-see-ums that are a serious problem while staying closer to the beach.
The bungalows appear to be under the jungle canopy, and you get the feeling of privacy and seclusion.
The employees are always helpful, happy, and most of all, genuingly happy to serve you, or just chat about Island life and their personal advice on where to go, what to experience, and other dining experiences for diversity.
I have stayed all over the world, and many other places on the Island and mainland, and this family operated B & B is the best.
The rude and illiterate poster above does not resemble any place close to where I stayed.
I rate West Bay Lodge a 4 & 1/2 star out of 5, always room for improvement, but it is situated in a perfect location....Thanks for an excellent stay.
