“Can't Wait to go back !!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

My husband and I have travelled to all inclusive resorts in Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and now Honduras !

We loved our week in Roatan at the Mayan Princess !

ROOMS - We loved our 1 bedroom condo. We were in room 211 and were very pleased with it. The balcony was huge and was equiped with a patio table and 4 chairs; it was great for relaxing and having a coffee. Our condo had a kitchen with a full sized fridge, microwave, stove and roll away island; our room also had a coffee maker. We had no problems with our room; everything worked perfectly...even the water pressure was good. The rooms were spotless !

FOOD - The buffet was small but the food was really good. I am a fairly picky eater and I always found lots of tasty things to eat. Local beer and alcohol are included however, Corona and other international drinks are not included. We were allowed 2 a la cartes a week; they have 2 a la carte restaurants. The indoor a la carte was excellent and the beach one was ok.
There didn't really seem to be a dress code for either restaurant...shorts were ok. In general people dressed very casually for dinners ! I wished I had brought more capri's and less dresses---just a note for the ladies. If you get tired of the buffet we heard that Bananarama had great food and they have a wood burning oven to make awesome pizzas ! We heard that Bite on the Beach, Vintage Pearl and Earth Mama's have great food too. We NEVER eat off the resorts that we go to BUT here we did and we would again !!!

Service was great ! We seemed to always sit in Glenda's section and she is an amazing person and a great server !

EXCURSIONS - We felt very safe in Roatan ... we never venture out on our own unless as part of an organized tour, however we felt so safe we rented a motorbike for the day and went out exploring the island. 24 hour motorbike rental was only $ 70. That day we ate at Tong's Restaurant in West End. The food was fantastic, pad thai and curry !

Look for Winston- he has a boat called Three Sisters- he took us to see the dolphin show and snorkelling for a great price. We had lunch at The Beach Club Restaurant in West End. Awesome food at great prices.

AREA OF IMPROVEMENT: The only thing that I would like to see at this resort is activities for guests to do during the day. There are no volleyball nets, no darts, no pool tables, no water aerobics, or beach aerobics...the hotel provides no activies that do not cost extra $$$$. I will mention the only thing they offer is a "morning walk at 930". We snorkelled every day at the beautiful reef that is to the left of the hotel.

ALL in all we LOVED it and would return in a heart beat !!!

“Spent a wonderfull day at Mayan princess”

My fiancé and I spent a day at Mayan princess when our cruise ship docked in Roatan. We really enjoyed our day there. The pools are really beautifull, there's a nice long beach, lots of chairs, good drinks and on top of all, the people working there were extremely nice! We went snorkling at the reef near the resort's beach. A little boat took us there. It was about a 3 to 5 minutes ride. We saw lots of colorfull fish.

“Still here and loving it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

To the advisor who said it was terrible - remember there are always some people that will never be happy. When I travel I want to stay somewhere nice. I expect to be comfortable and have a clean room. My husband says I am too picky. Well this place met all my needs and more. I have been here two weeks and can't wait for my next time. I have travelled many places and the Mayan is one of the nicest for many reasons. The location is perfect. Steps to the beach and the most beautiful beach I've ever been to.
If you are a diver this is the pace to be. If not a diver it still is the place to be. The service was awesome. The staff are super friendly and eager to meet your needs.

This is a smaller resort so the entertainment isn't its strong suit but the homey atmosphere is wonderful. You are not a number you are a guest and they make you feel appreciated.

The rooms are wonderful and clean. They are dated and need some upgrades like a flat screen tv and newer bedding but the stay was awesome. The beach chairs need some repairs.

Mark who worked on the beach was always super friendly and helpful. Security was excellent. Entertainment although limited was good. If you are looking for a lot of entertainment this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a restful relaxing time with a smaller hotel you will not find a better place.

The food is good not over the top but it is what you would expect from an all inclusive. We never got sick in two weeks from the food. Cleanliness is good!

We will be back again with more friends. Stayed at Henry Morgan and there is no comparison. Would not stay there again!

“Very pretty beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We visited the resort for part of a day. The grounds and pool area were pretty. The beach was nice. We did encounter a lot of people selling things - necklaces, sunglasses, sea shells. We were able to order drinks and food and enjoy on the beach.

“Just ok”

Stayed at this resort recently and found it to be just ok. The beach is beautiful and the rooms are clean (although dated). The balcony was nice as well. The service at check in and out was good. The food wasn't bad, but also nothing to write home about. The buffet really didn't have much variety from meal to meal.

Had a couple of issues with the service throughout the stay. We asked for an iron and ironing board, were assured it would be delivered and had to call twice about it. Finally the board came but the iron never showed up (after yet another call). I had prearranged (well in advance) for a birthday cake to be brought to the room on the day of our arrival. There was no cake. I called the front desk who put me through to the restaurant. They had no idea I had ordered a cake but told me it would be brought to the room by 8pm. The cake never showed up, even after another phone call. The next day I asked about it at the front desk and was told it could be brought to the room right away. That didn't really help much as my husbands birthday was the day before. I know it is not a huge deal but I would have made other arrangements had I known. The situation just made me aware of the lack of concern for services they said they would provide.

One other thing, if you get an ocean front room, be prepared for the noise from the activities of the neighbouring resorts. The music is loud and it goes on for quite a while. I was expecting this, and am not complaining, but it might be something you consider when booking your room.

Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again but as far as options in West Bay, from what I saw, it looked about average or slightly above.
