My husband and I have travelled to all inclusive resorts in Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica and now Honduras !
We loved our week in Roatan at the Mayan Princess !
ROOMS - We loved our 1 bedroom condo. We were in room 211 and were very pleased with it. The balcony was huge and was equiped with a patio table and 4 chairs; it was great for relaxing and having a coffee. Our condo had a kitchen with a full sized fridge, microwave, stove and roll away island; our room also had a coffee maker. We had no problems with our room; everything worked perfectly...even the water pressure was good. The rooms were spotless !
FOOD - The buffet was small but the food was really good. I am a fairly picky eater and I always found lots of tasty things to eat. Local beer and alcohol are included however, Corona and other international drinks are not included. We were allowed 2 a la cartes a week; they have 2 a la carte restaurants. The indoor a la carte was excellent and the beach one was ok.
There didn't really seem to be a dress code for either restaurant...shorts were ok. In general people dressed very casually for dinners ! I wished I had brought more capri's and less dresses---just a note for the ladies. If you get tired of the buffet we heard that Bananarama had great food and they have a wood burning oven to make awesome pizzas ! We heard that Bite on the Beach, Vintage Pearl and Earth Mama's have great food too. We NEVER eat off the resorts that we go to BUT here we did and we would again !!!
Service was great ! We seemed to always sit in Glenda's section and she is an amazing person and a great server !
EXCURSIONS - We felt very safe in Roatan ... we never venture out on our own unless as part of an organized tour, however we felt so safe we rented a motorbike for the day and went out exploring the island. 24 hour motorbike rental was only $ 70. That day we ate at Tong's Restaurant in West End. The food was fantastic, pad thai and curry !
Look for Winston- he has a boat called Three Sisters- he took us to see the dolphin show and snorkelling for a great price. We had lunch at The Beach Club Restaurant in West End. Awesome food at great prices.
AREA OF IMPROVEMENT: The only thing that I would like to see at this resort is activities for guests to do during the day. There are no volleyball nets, no darts, no pool tables, no water aerobics, or beach aerobics...the hotel provides no activies that do not cost extra $$$$. I will mention the only thing they offer is a "morning walk at 930". We snorkelled every day at the beautiful reef that is to the left of the hotel.
ALL in all we LOVED it and would return in a heart beat !!!
