We stayed at Foster's last year March of 2011, took me a bit to write. We stayed in the upper level cabana - 1 room w/loft, full kitchen and great, great deck.. The price could not be beat, we stayed for 9 days. The beach is the most beautiful in the area and not very crowded, except on Cruise ship day -- I think it was tuesday and wed. All the areas allow the cruise ship people to come in and use the beach for a small fee. No worries though, they are really not that bad, well some, yelling at the kids. What makes it so noticeable is that at Fosters it is SO tranquil. There were days that we (another female) and I had the whole beach/cove to ourselves.

The Foster family is great, Mr. Foster you will fall in love with. "Everything okay sweetie", every morning he asks. Our AC broke in the main room and was fixed - new unit - within two days. He bought us drinks for the two days and sent over large plates of fruit and cheese to help us through the traumatic time.

Pro's -- Spacious, pretty clean, not spotless - but the maids come everyday and are really sweet. The locals right out side on the beach sell earings, dresses, vanilla (buy vanilla 5 bucs for large bottle, random I know, but buy it best 5 bucs ever) They are very friendly and greet you every morning. Walking distance -- to left - to stores, liquor store, fruit truck, more people are on beach there, kinda crowded in fact. To the right -- west end - take water taxi for 1.00, dry goods store, restaurants, shops. Would never want to stay at West End, too much traffic and rifraff. go there during day for fun but come back to peace and the most beautiful view you can ever imagine. We snorkeled everyday off the beach, walk down to left about 500 yards for the best area. Overall you can not beat the price and the peace. The restuarant is good, lobster night 20.00, great happy hours. Our room had full kitchen so we bought fish in West End, 4 lobsters for 10.00 and some fish and fruit and cooked a lot in the room. Fosters rakes the sand everymorning which is crucial people as it keeps the sand fleas out and trust me it, once you are bitten it can ruin your vacation.

Con's -- not totally modern, but this is WHy we choose this place, nothing worse than going to another country and staying in a home that looks just like yours. Getting out and about and meeting locals and trying new things are what vacation is about - to me. On cruise ship days - you get a chance to see why the rest of country thinks Americans are loud, boisterous and just plain vulgar. It's kinda funny once your at Fosters in your own little bay, all quiet and peaceful, when the cruise ship peeps come, your are thinking, Be quiet, stop yelling, get your fat bum off your chair and catch the child instead of bellowing orders to a 2 year old".
They leave at 3:00 though, thank heavens. Nothing bad about Fosters really, not the most modern though, but has everything you need. Sort of late 70's ish or early 80's feel to the place. I would not want to change a thing though. Bring seasoning and a floatie, the round tubes with drink holders, some Australian chicks left us theres, we had people trying to rent them from us..

Room Tip: the upper leavel cabana. the tree house has no ac so dont go there

“poor dirty room”

i did not personally stay at foster's but felt the need to write this to warn others. we went to roatan last year and stayed at las sirenas. during the day we were trying to find the foster's restaurant as we were planning to come back for their famous lobster dinner. we ran into a friendly canadian couple and asked for directions when we had walked too far down the beach. they told us they were staying at fosters and can show us the way. during our chat they told us that they had booked with foster's last minute and were unhappy with their room. they were a very down to earth couple in their 50s and were there for diving and definitely didn't seem like they were fussy or spoiled. they actually wanted to show us the room so they could share their experience. it was a ground level apartment right beside the dive shop. the room looked like a run down cabin that had been left unattended for years. i felt dirty just being in there. furniture was old and dusty. there were stains on the walls, rust in the bathroom and fridge, and overall a very dreary apartment. it was supposed to be a fully stock kitchen but there was no coffee machine and barely enough plates and utensils for a meal for two. they showed us a small tv in the room and laughed that it wasn't plugged in when they got there and when they did plug it in it didn't work. so it was purely for show. they said they are trying to make the most of it wasn't going to let a bad room spoil their vacation. i felt bad for them and thought if they saw our room at las sirenas they would be shocked at the comparison. maybe other rooms were better but i wouldn't count on it. i would not recommend this hotel.

“Wonderful people beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We spent a week at Fosters in the upstairs duplex cabana. Although it could use some updating for the price to stay right on the beach you are getting a great deal. The room has air conditioning we had no interruption of power, they cleaned the room every day you are rarely in the room, it met all our needs. We especially enjoyed our meals out on the deck watching the people walk by and just laying in the hammock as a passing shower. We enjoyed the happy hour nightly, the food was wonderful, especially the lobster night. Where can you get a meal for $12 for lobster but in Roatan at Fosters. Leslie was wonderful to work with and went out of her way to help us when we could not get money out of the atm. Foster's beach was always clean and not busy compared to the other end, as the cruise ship people are dropped off there. It's very quiet and peaceful to enjoy some down time. Our price included being picked up from the airport which was very nice benefit, especially after standing in the long line going through immigration. We got our luggage and went outside and they were waiting for us. We went directly to the hotel, checked us in and we were on the beach enjoying our afternoon. They are a family resort, where people come back and they greet them like family. We really enjoyed our time in Roatan especially the snorkeling.

“Great location, atmosphere, and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I stayed in Foster's West Bay with an old college buddy at the beginning of November 2011. The location is amazing. You are situated at the end of the beach so you can have your own space, but can also take the short walk down to some of the other spots. The restaurant is great. The staff is friendly, and it is probably the best breakfast you will have in Roatan. I stayed in a simple cabana with two beds, fridge, sink, table, and bathroom. Nothing fancy, but it fit perfectly for what two single guys on a budget who wanted to explore Roatan were looking for. The rooms were cleaned daily, and that was no small task given the crowd that poor lady was catering to. If you are looking for a 5 star resort, go to a Sandals with everybody else. If you want a true Honduras experience that won't break the bank, Fosters is the place to be!

“Great location and nice atmosphere”

I stayed in Foster's West Bay with my husband and three kids in February 2011. We had rented the Upper Round House which has two queen size beds and a single bed, a small kitchen and great veranda with excellent beach and sea view. We were very unlucky with the weather is it poured with rain the first four days. The weather was so bad that we could not do anything but run from our room to Foster's restaurant and back. The food at the restaurant was nice and we were happy that their small reception area had computers with internet as well as WIFI at the restaurant. After the rain stopped we explored the area, took the water taxi to town and the kids went diving with the dive school at the premises. Nice people at the dive school. We explored the other hotels and resorts along the beach. Some of of them are large, concrete buildings. What I liked most about Foster's was that the casitas are all build of wood and the place looks very friendly. The room was clean and decent. Not great but I did not expect that for that price.

Room Tip: Upper Round Room great for family if you are trying to save money and don't mind staying all in...
