“Terrrible Hotel Terrible Service Live Exposed wires in Room.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

I have read many reviews from people who apparantly were there at the same time as us !
The photos shown under October 2011 are not correct ! So all can suggest is the good reviews are being left by the Hotel.

Stay away from this hotel its not a four star, the food is terrible the drink is terrible and the accomodation is something from 1965!!
The Service and after care is a joke.
We had exposed live wires in our room, one wire was at the top of the head board in my sons bed.
We reported this, and nothig was done, we complained about the food & drink, nothing was done.
Our son had to sleep in our bed all week.

There was no entertainment.

Every person there was complaining ! Nothing was ever done.

We booked with OT Beach and they done nothing to move us out of a un-safe room, we have had no reply regarding the live wires, we have called and emailed they have done nothing.

Stay away, dont book.

If you have booked ask for a refund now.

Look at the photos and make your own choice but from our family, please think twice.

STAY AWAY

Room Tip: Don't book here, if you do make sure it has not got live exposed wires in it !!

Just returned after a ten day all inc break. This hotel is well located and elevated views in some directions.
First impressions good even after reading 50/50 reviews, the swimming pool looked nicely lit-up.
Reception very polite (late evening arrival) the room was dated but was of a sea-faring 70s style. The bathroom fine and must have been originally expensive (marble etc) great view from balcony . The air conditioner unit could be adjusted.
The hotel was ones a very stylish place, and floors were marble and woodwork African hardwood. The main bar was half a Greek boat , in dark hardwood varnish. Yes it was dated but in an old fashioned charming way. ( bit like visiting rich elderly shipping tycoon)
Staff throughout we're either polite or charming, but I expect some guests would find frustration with language barrier with some staff. If you were polite they were more than the same.
The hotel is slowly to be updated , which is both good and bad. I think it would be a shame to lose some of the original features- like port hole windows in the games room and the floors. Etc
Food was ok, in a Greek /Italian style but with chips for those who prefer. Basic wine was served by the two waitresses , but if you preferred beer or pop there was a small bar in the restaurant.
For all inclusive guests dining three times a day I expect the choices would repeat themselves , but I felt there was good value - and you could probably eat and drink as much as you wanted.
The all inc drinks were designed to be drunk all day , but you also had a fridge in room and a local supermarket if your needs were greater.
Dassia is quite nice in low season and this hotel represents the value end of the market, and allows you budget for a hire car or quad bike or whatever. A frequent bus service goes to the interesting Corfu town.
I had a nice end os season break and feel tempted to go go back, all inc is a novelty and you can have nice chats with fellow guests or just indulge . Thank you to all the staff for a nice service.

Room Tip: You could get a poor room apparently , but can always enquire at the desk for alternative. Some roo...

“Not a bad place, please read if you have booked a stay here”

Just got back from staying at the magna grecia for 1 week after getting a bargain price online and I have got to say after reading the many bad reviews I was expecting this place to be the pits so was not looking forward to our trip. What a suprise when I arrived this place is not at all what is described in previous reviews. The staff were all very friendly and always acknowledged my kids when walking round the hotel, the food was great, plenty selection and different options every meal times and for the typical brit there's alway chips!!!, my daughter especially loved the various selection of cakes and ice creams, the place was very clean, towels and room cleaned everyday. Okay the decor is a lot to be desired and could do with updating but personally I go on holiday to enjoy the sunshine and not to spend the day in my room. The only bad point is that it is at the top of a very steep bank and there are alot of steps in the hotel to access bar and swimming pool etc, this wouldnt have been a concern for me had we not had 2 buggies to push around and a very curious toddler who always seemed to head in the direction of steps. Other than that cant fault the place, we went last week in October which is the last week of the season and had no problems with qeueing for food or drinks we were always servied straight away. My only advice is to make sure you take plenty of mosquito repellent as the island is renound for mosquitos. Would definitely go back

“Excellent family holiday!!”

Just returned from a week at the Magna Graecia, Corfu. Booked last minute so was not sure what to expect. Hotel was dated but extremely clean with basic but very clean rooms and bathroom. All staff from bar staff, cleaners, waitresses and hotel entertainment were very very friendly. We have 2 teenage boys and they had the time of the lives. The entertainment was basic but enjoyable with always something to do. We met some really lovely people and made some great friends. The resort was not very busy at this time of the year but very reliable and cheap bus service was available to take you out and about to see other parts of what was a beautiful island. We went all inclusive and this was definately a money saver. Excellent range of food and drinks available. Drinks until 11.30 and not over priced if you wanted to drink later. Highly recommend 'Shakes' bar which was only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Lovely clean swimmimg pool with plenty of sun loungers available. We recommend this hotel for couples or families looking for an affordable and friendly holiday!!

Room Tip: Garden view rooms have an excellent view of the mountains and sea and are not too noisey at night wh...
