“A stain on hotel image”

We stayed at the hotel Duni Marina Royal Palace in early July 2011. The resort is very clean, with numerous pools, restaurants and bars. The landscape is beautiful and varied, from the beach to the hills and shady alleys of the Holiday Village. The staff was helpful during our stay, except day of arrival when I had problems with accommodation , only later and with more insistence have been resolved. It was unexpected and shameful for such a hotel and mention the incident to prevent tourists, not to accept such treatment.
We were a large group and I booked rooms with sea view. Inconvenience was that we were assigned a few rooms on the east side, for parking at ground level, even in the basement, with a view to a hill with rocks and bushes. Sea could be seen, slightly to the right, just removing the head from the balcony. Perhaps these are rooms for personal greed that they rent to tourists, without preventing and offer a discount to those who accept the conditions.
After much insistence, the evening gave us a room in the same wing, on the top floor, but here we had problems. The air conditioned hotel was always noise, unbearable. Not even a man of strong nerves could not rest, especially my wife, retired medical with sleep problems. It was already about 10 pm and I told the reception that will go down with bedding to sleep on sofas in the lobby. Only then gave us a room we were satisfied, the small building near the pier.
As regards services, Marina Royal Palace deserves little price difference. It would be just too much silence blamed on the hotel terrace, the restaurant and bars. A background sound effects. can even live music evening would have created a more pleasant atmosphere.
It also might give more attention to children. Playgrounds are poor and can not be compared with other resorts offering Bulgarian seaside. And it is surprising that so many pools, there is even a water slide.
Otherwise, only better, we felt pampered and respected.

Room Tip: Do not accept inferior conditions!

“Very nice location”

We were accommodated in this hotel, two families, each with one little kid, in June 2011.
I would summarize our experience like this:
1. Location: the best part of the "Package" for a vacation in Duni. The hills next to the beach, the landscaping of the resort itself, the dimensions of the "domain", all very nice.
2. Rooms: not a 5 start standard. Cleanliness: could be better. We had this almost permanent bad smell in our room, coming from the bad plumbing I assume. Overall acceptable.
3. Service: Room service OK. Reception: quite small and it gets crowded quite often. The reception clerks could also have a more customer oriented approach.
4. Food: Nothing exceptional, just regular holidays resort food. There were some Bulgarian soups worth to be recommended. Red wine was of acceptable quality.
5. Entertainment: the beach is very nice, common for all hotels and villas in the resort. The number of sun-beds is quite impressive but still not enough for the resort capacity. If you wake up a bit later in the morning you can still manage to get a sun-bed next to a pool. The pools are very nice and clean, kids’ pools available also. Other activities are also there to enjoy: archery, beach volley, kids stuff, shooting, theatre and others. Walks through the resort are also pleasant as it is very nicely landscaped.
6. Surroundings: This part of Bulgaria is worth driving through: hills, forests, green landscape, very relaxing drive. As for visiting, I would recommend the southern villages and towns, they are no so populated with tourists and one could get in touch with the real Bulgarian life.

“Great holiday... in the summer.”

We stayed in the hotel in september this year, and the hotel was lovely. Cant fault the cleanliness at all. The cleaners were always in view somewhere about the hotel. The food was good, lots of variety however, after a night at the so called "italian" restaurant, i was not well. We met up with another couple there, and they too were not so well after eating there. We expected the restaurant to be lovely but it was just a part of the hotel, closed off for it - so was pretty disapointed. Also, people dont dress up for dinner?! So don't take lots of dresses, unless it doesnt bother you being the only person wearing one. The hotel at this time was preparing to close for the year, so dont go at this time. The weather was fantastic, and out of the week we stayed there, there was only one day that was rather chilly. There wasn't much to do at the resort, as everything had closed at the beginning of the month, So we relied on day trips to keep ourselves entertained. The staff were pleasent enough, some out shining the others.. but just to let you know.. bulgarians do not smile much! so dont be offended! :) I would go back again, but only sometime in the summer!

Room Tip: Rooms viewing out onto the sea have the best view! every morning we saw the sunrise, and it heats up...

“Clean hotel, clean pool, good food and good beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This is a hotel where you can`t find something wrong. Of course you can try and maybe there is going to be something but at this price it`s a good choice.

The room we got was at the third floor and we had a wonderful sea view over a little golf not actually the crowded beach so it was quite in the morning. Every single day we found new towels and a clean room (big king size bed, TV and lots of space).

The pool actually pools because there are a lot of them are always clean and after 18.00 they start to clean them again and rearrange the sun beds on the beach and clean the waterfront. When you enter the water there is a 20 m walk and the water is still not deep. On the beach you can find enough space for everyone and many interesting water sports

The food is very good, not the same thing everyday and we liked the barbeque stand outside the restaurant. In the morning you could find fresh pancakes there. Very tasty.

There are a lot of activities included in the room price like tennis and cycling.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor

“Perfect holiday!”

Me, my husband and my 2 years son ,we had a great time at Marina Palace hotel from Duni at the end of June 2011.The food is very very good (If you have a little kid you have plenty of choices). The room was big and clean, and had a wonderful sea view (even if not from the beginning, when we received a parking view room which was not very nice...).It's a wonderful resort for families with children especially. Also I recommend you to visit Sozopol city,2-3km away from Duni, very very very nice also !
I hope to come back one day with my family, maybe with a little sister or brother for my son to play with!
