We stayed in Harrapa Cabin no 7, lovely and cosy with both radiators and log fire. Fire wood is provided with newspaper, we lit our fire a few times, tip always have the dampner open to avoid smoke coming back into the cabin; risk of carbon monoxide.
Our cabin was ample big enough for us (2) this was a family size cabin two beds upstairs, but caution with the stairs very very steep. We slept downstairs in a seperate room with plenty of storage for clothes. We ate in a couple times, the back ring on the hob was slightly slow, but we managed.
Tip take packets of porridge, pasta and cup a soups and anything else that is reasonably light, as the supermarket can be expensive, dependent on what you buy; guests before us left coffee and pasta, we left a few items also. We didn't use the washing machine so can't comment. We did use the sauna which was fab, even rolled in the snow brrrrrrrr. The outside temperature was -28. The heating does go off when the sauna is in use.
The cabin is set in amongst trees absolutely beautiful location, but did find it time consuming to buy provisions at the supermarket 30 mins walk at least, take the sledge provided to carry your shopping. There are short cuts to the Akas Hotel, which is before the supermarket, where you can buy meals and drinks, though quite expensive.
Short cut to Akas Hotel. Walk or ski to the top of the road at crossways continue walking straight, you will see two cross country ski tracks take a right and follow the path, you will pass a small bridge on your left, continue forward and you will see signs for the Akas Hotel, turn left and follow the path, hope this helps. If you carry straight on instead of turning left towards the Hotel you will come out by the lake a good place to see The Northern Lights, though we didn't see them this time round. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, there are a few bars in the village, we tended to go to Jullius Bar, which isn't far from the Akas Hotel on the left hand side nice food and welcoming staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we booked a Husky Trip which was amazing, very cold at -35, lots of layers needed though you will be provided with extra layers. We also hired a couple of snowmobiles for the day, we were given a map as we wanted to visit The Ice Hotel at Laino, brilliant drive we stopped half way and had a hot drink and a cake:) We were 6 hours on the snowmobiles which was long enough for us. We also booked Ski lessons and neither of us can Ski. The Ski centre Y1 was brilliant, lovely staff and a brilliant instructor who taught us so much in our 90 minutes session, though we only had big fluffy hats with us, we looked slightly ridiculous, as we didn't have at this time balaclava's, we were advised to hire the helmets.
We had another day of skiing, which was bitterly cold -34, hence the slopes were very quite, we managed to last 3/4 of an hour as it was just too cold and windy.
Our return flight was slightly delayed due to de-icing. We a truly brilliant holiday hope yours is as enjoyable.
