“Brilliant hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We stayed here in July 2011 and had a great holiday. We normally go away for our main holiday in August but went earlier this year and enjoyed the fact that there were no children around, not that we mind children but it was a quieter holiday.
The hotel is about ten minutes walk downhill to Kefalos (uphill on the way back) but we enjoy a walk so this was not a problem and apart from a few crazy drivers it was ok provided you walk facing the oncoming traffic.
When we arrived at 3am we could not get into our room as the lock was jammed so we were given a temporary room for the night but the family could not have been more helpful making sure that we in our proper room first thing the following morning. The family are all great and couldn't have been nicer to us throughout our 2 week stay.We were lucky enough to have a high floor with a beautiful uninterupted view of the bay. Ask for a high floor, you wont have noise above and you get a fantastic view.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which was fine for us. We are not big eaters and breakfast was fine, on the days when we wanted a little more we just paid a couple of euros for either a fantastic fresh fruit salad with yogurt and homemade honey or delicious pancakes with icing sugar, yum yum. We did hear some people complaining about the breakfast and dinner (we never ate there in the evening) but for what we paid I dont see how you could complain, these lovely people are just trying to make a living so the additonal prices were hardly going to break the bank.
The only problem for us was the battle of the sunbeds every day. I dont normally put towels on beds but you had to at this hotel or you wouldnt have got a bed after 9am. Some people were up reserving beds from 6am. I dread to think what it would have been like in the height of the season. We dont normally stay by the pool because we like the beach but we werent keen on the pebbles so wanted to be by the pool most days. It was amusing on the one hand watching people going at the crack of dawn to put their towels down but there was also a row between some people whilst we were there which is unfortunate because you are on holiday. I dont know the answer but it is a bit unpleasant and causes some people real upset and grief.
We loved the hotel but as I mentioned we didnt really like the beach in the resort so we hired a car from the Hermes for a few days and went around the island. We loved the beach at Tigaki but preferred the overall resort of Kefalos. We would go back to Kos again and would consider the Hermes but we would hire a car again and go off to different beaches.
You will love the hotel if you go and dont be put off by the reports of the walk to the resort, it isnt that bad. The pros far outweigh the cons, go and enjoy.

Room Tip: High floors have amazing views

“Lovely Holiday at Hermes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

My husband and I spend a lovely week at the Hermes Hotel. Kefalos, Kos. This is a family run hotel and all the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

The hotel was very clean, the food good had several themed evenings for some sort of variation from the usual food.We spent most evenings in the hotel due to the friendliness of the staff, the well stocked bar and cocktails.

The only complaint is the non-appearance of the Thomas Cook Rep during our stay. And having to pay for the air conditioning, which we thought should be free due to the weather being so hot. Also if you have mobility problems this is not the hotel for you as it is situated on a steep hill.

We would stop at this hotel again and it is highly recommended by us.

“Hermes Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Positives:
Hotel was very clean.
Staff very friendly and Helpful
Food very nice (But, not what I would call greek!!!!)
CAr was cheaper to hire from Hotel than it was off Holiday Rep.

Negatives:
Although Food was nice it became a bit repetative.
No entertainment
No curtacy room (Had to pay 25 Euro's to keep room on)... (WE MADE FRIENDS WITH ANOTHER COUPLE TRAVELLING HOME THE SAME DAY, SO WE HALVED THE COST OF THE ROOM)

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking / climbing stairs this 'may not' be th ideal option for you...

“Lovely holiday at Hermes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Hermes Hotel Kos. This was my partner and myself's first visit to Kos and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! The hotel was just perfect for 3 star accommodation. the room was big enough for us, had a fridge, was cleaned daily with fresh sheets and towels provided (except sundays) pool area a great size too.

We were on a HB basis and the food was lovely all home made, breakfast basic only toast or cereal, but that suited me, my partner bought omlette and toast for 2.50 euros (not bad).

Diana and Sebastian (owners) couldnt have been more helpful and very friendly. Spiros who worked the bar at night was also very friendly.

Places to visit:- The village (up a steep hill but worth it). Bus trip to Paradise Beach (name speaks for itself) Bus trip to Kos Town.

We would definately go back although maybe early to mid September not the end as the resort itself was a wee bit too quiet with some bars and restaurants already closed.

Wonderful stay at a very friendly family run hotel, quiet and relaxed area and "hill" from the beach no issue at all. Hill up to old village more challenging. Sebastians, Cpt Johns 2 excellent taverners and Magic beach just up the road fantastic if the crowds of paradise beach does not appeal. Take the evening trip into Kos, hire a moped/car to explore the area.
