Stayed one night in February while driving around the western part of the country. The town of Murten itself is the most charming place and is definitely worth a visit. It used to be a very important market spot in that part of the region. The hotel is situated next to the small medieval fortress that used to protect one of the town gates. The location and the parking is extremely convenient. The hotel is comprised of two adjoining houses, that look very old, charming and inviting. The interior however was a bit dissapoining due to beeing eclectic in the extreme. With some more money investments and a bit of taste this place would be much prettier. The standart room was of reasonable size, but some wooden pillar protruding from the wall to the ceiling made it look smaller and also complicated greatly the access to the wardrobe. The room in general was very simple and modestly furnished with things obviously bought at various sales. However the service was friendly and efficient. The price for B&B for two was 200 CHF. By the way, don't forget to buy as much of special murten pie as you can carry!

we stayed there for a night in August during the Murten classic days.
the restaurant was packed until the concert started but it was well worth waiting.
The view over the lake was wonderful especially at sundown.
the food was excellent and the wine reasonably priced.
The room was a bit weird but not too expensive.
The furniture was very old but ok.
it was a family room but it remided me of the Seventies.
The bathroom was orange!
it is very central though and Murten is a gem.
Somebody said that Swiss hotels look and feel like sanatoriums of the seventies and i think he is still right!

Very comfortable hotel in Murten in an ideal location and with a fantastic view of the lake. The train station is about a 5 minute walk; the main restaurant street is just a block away; going down to the lake is another 5 minute walk. Everything is so close to the hotel, the service is great and the breakfast is very complete too.
