“A Lovely Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

for a first time stay, it is a little confusing at first with half the building private owners. the reception staff were lovely, welcoming, helpful with directions. i worked out the carpark pretty quickly, with certain parks allocated to quest guests on each floor. some parks you would need to be an expert to get into, but i kept going higher up until i found a park a little easier to get into. the apartment was perfect. clean, roomy, trendy, air con and lamps were on ready for my arrival. the bedroom had a tv, which is a great addition! the bathroom facilities were excellent, with shower over the bath, and it had a washer and dryer. according to the room info, my room was supposed to have a stereo, which was missing, but the tv worked fine, and as i sat out on the balcony most of the time i was there, i didn't feel the need to address the issue with reception. there are options given for inroom breakfast, however i didn't have breakfast. the view from the balcony on the 13th floor was looking directly at the city, and it was lovely in both day and certainly at night. the building is about 2 kms from the cbd, so was quieter than i expected. it was 1 minutes walk to a little iga on st kilda rd that had everything i needed, and also downstairs from the apartments is a coffee shop, and a liquor store with a very good selection of wines. i can highly recommend quest on dorcas, as it was a very enjoyable stay, and i will be choosing to stay there again. :)

“Worst service ever!”

DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU WANT SERVICED APARTMENTS, they are NOT serviced we stayed two nights and NOONE CLEANED our apartment!!!! The hotel is nice the location is perfect, the service and staff is shocking. Hotels in third world countries that I have stayed in have friendlier and more helpful staff helping out, not to mention there is no parking included you have to pay extra. Firstly the fridge didn't work on new years eve on a 40 degree day, we called reception to tell them and to complain about REQUESTING A KING BED AND GIVEN TWO SINGLE BEDS WITH SHEETS TO HOLD IT TOGETHER and the lady at the desk received a call asked if i could wait and i could hear her answer the other call and complaining about us calling 'complaining about our fridge and beds' fair enough she was nice to us but the fact that i could hear her complaining about us instead of helping is ridiculous. There was no maintenance working, we were promised when housekeeping comes by the next day that maintenance would check the fridge the next day however we asked a gentleman at the desk the next day if housekeeping could come by and we even ran into her in the lift but we went down around 530 and told the same lady that was at the desk the day before that we never got our apartment serviced and we had rubbish in the hallway because the Shute was locked and we were told that housekeeping wasnt there on a public holiday and that we need to take down our rubbish downstairs, I mentioned that I saw the housekeeping lady in the lift and the gentleman at the desk earlier told us she was here and would help it so then the lady at the desk claimed it was a mistake and never apologized. Definitely never staying at any quest ever again, never paid for a service like this and felt so cheated!

Hi,

I am sorry you were unhappy with some aspects of your stay with us and I thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I agree it would be unacceptable for a staff member to complain about a guest making a legitimate complaint and clearly a faulty fridge is just that. The staff member concerned indicated she believed she was merely describing the problem to our on-call manager, to seek advice on solving the problem. She never intended to complain about you and I apologise if it came across that way. I am glad to hear the fridge ended up working and thank you for working with us to find a suitable solution.

The website you booked on clearly states there is no housekeeping service on Public Holidays and you would be aware that the date in question was 1 January - New Year's Day public holiday. A letter was also provided on check-in to all guests during that period, outlining the housekeeping schedule for the New Year's holiday period, as well as detailing that extra towels and provisions had been provided in the apartment on the day prior to the Public Holiday. You would have seen a housekeeping staff member working on 1 January to prepare arrival apartments for check-in guests. With regards to the rubbish chute, they do not have lockable doors, so I am unsure of the confusion with that. Nevertheless, I understand our Reception staff member offered to dispose of your rubbish for you.

You requested Queen+King bedding configuration. The King bed in your apartment is called a king-split bed. Rest assured that when made up as a king, it is zipped securely together and would never be just pushed together.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and I hope you may reconsider staying with us again, giving us the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable stay. Please feel free to contact me if you choose to return and I will personally oversee your booking.

Kind regards,

Catherine Mapperson

“Beautiful apartment - stunning views of Melbourne city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Very nice place. Extremely clean, modern and well presented. Within walking distance to the city [assuming you sort of know your way about a bit] We had an apartment on level 9 and the views from the lounge room of the city are spectacular. x2 flat screen TV's [one in master bedroom, which is always a positive I reckon :) ] Set up with everything you really need for a comfortable stay. Parking onsite is available at an extra daily fee - a little daunting with some of the available spaces for Quest rooms being horizontal spaces, but there are allocated spaces from level 2 through to level 7 so patience is the key. Reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful with any questions you have. The only down side was the construction/deconstruction happening at a building nearby, but that is not something Quest can control.

“Not bad”

Parking is a bit weird. Wi-fi is paid independently which is not always convenient. No breakfast as such, only a box. It is quite clean and modern so can't really complain. It is also strange because half of the building you have private apartments. Also have to pay extra for parking.

“This is a Awesome Hotel/Apt - A Home away from Home”

Wow What an Amazing Manager and staff ... Let me share my amazing two week experience When I went to Melbourne on a business trip for a week and a week’s vacation I stayed at the Quest Hotel on 8 Dorcus street. The staff ( Shirley-Mgr, Rhaianna, Sue, and Sharlee ) there was the best I have ever had the privilege of visiting with on business or vacation. They attended my every need while working and made arrangements for me and my partner while on vacation. They were professional, friendly and attentive. We all ended up being quick friends and chatting on a daily basis. It did not matter what we asked of them, they were there for us and made our trip a wonderful experience. On our last night there we wanted to go to a nice dinner. The restaurant that I had picked was booked so the girls went out of their way and decided that they would find us a nice place for our last meal. They did a wonderful job and found us a great restaurant on the bay. Donovan’s in St Kilda was a great restaurant with a great service staff. The meal was perfect and made our last night there special.

Before we went to eat the girls had put a nice note with directions to the restaurant and a beautiful bottle of wine in our room. Donovan’s does not allow BYO/Wine Corkage so we brought the wine home to enjoy here.

I can honestly say that the staff at the hotel made our trip complete. They always had a suggestion for us if we were stumped on what we wanted to do on any one day and always wanted to hear about our adventures when we got back to the hotel. The rooms were well maintained and if for some reason we missed the cleaning crew the girls made sure we had what we needed in the room. They would either take care of it themselves or find the cleaning staff and send them to our room. We never lacked anything during our visit and we well taken care of. This is an excellent choice if you want to be close to downtown but not in the middle of the busy traffic and noise. The metro trams are right outside the door and you have easy access to everything you might want to do. They made all of our arrangements for the great ocean road experience and several other excursions we did. We will be staying there the next time we visit and look forward to seeing the staff again. An Amazing team I tell you and the apartments were a great quite place to come home every day.

A truely rare find staying here at the Quest Dorcas, and one you should realy consider for your Melbourne stay while in Australia,"it's Easy" as they say down under.

Thanks
LMCESP
