Stayed over a weekend with some friends. The view from the room was spectacular, overlooking the lake. Absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Room great, fireplace ready to be lit, firm bedding, comfortable sleep. The food and service were outstanding, we had lamb from his own farm. The wines are from all over the world, the list has won many awards; i had the Red Hill Pinot Noir Reserve 2006, fantastic. Ania and John are gracious hosts. I can highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to recharge the batteries. Free WiFi in the lounge.

The best way to say how good Kania Lodge is to say we had 3 days and nights of unimaginable August weather - rain, wind, unseasonably low temperatures, grey and miserable skies - but it was still so enjoyable. Excellent staff, delicious and varied food, great wine to choose from, pretty location. We had one of the cheaper rooms upstairs; another time we'd go for one of the separate suites. Kania is a great blend of attentive service and informal ambiance. I'd love to see it in two feet of snow in a cold winter, mind you we had the fire going this week anyway! It deserves the Trip Advisor ratings.

I've been living in and travelling round Poland for 15 years and have not found weekend retreat that even comes close to this place. The food is superb, everything tastes better than it does in the city (maybe that's because of the air), and the wine is even better. If you want to be active, you can mess about in a boat on the ultra clean lake, play tennis, ride a bike or go swimming. A better choice is to just kick back in the garden, admire the vinyard and try a few new wines from all round the world. But make sure there's space in your car for the crate of wine you'll want to buy, the only way you'll leave without one is if you leave with two (or more). John and Ania are excellent hosts who make you feel as if you are staying at a friend's country house. It's certainly one of my three favourite places in Poland.
