“Nice rooms, modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2011

person found this review helpful

The hotel is rather new, with modern equipped spacey rooms, internet connection in all rooms. Modern big bathrooms. Very clean. It's maybe a bit "too stylish", meaning having a bit of a cold atmoshpere.
The Apollo hotel is approx 1 km from the Almere train station, with connections to Amsterdam every 15min (25 min journey). The hotel is close to a big bay, beach 1km, nice running track around the bay.
There is a public parking garage (belongs to the cinema next door) which serves as the hotel's parking, too, for reasonable price (5 EUR per night).
Nice big breakfast.

“not 4**** value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

had to stay several times in Almere for business.
This is one of the only hotels nearby the city centre.
So this was the only choice by then.

On the website, the hotel looks ok, but in reality it was not that good as a 4star.

Room:
positive: the bed was good to fall in sleep and bathroom amenities were ok with Dove products

negative:
- TV broadcasting quality is bad in the hotel, once in a while the TV everything is slowing down to broadcast the voices => similar as online streaming of videos
- no international channels were available, all international channels were additional charges => 1.5years back, everything was free
- there is no fridge in the room
- in the wintertime the room is a bit cold
- trought the wall of each room, could hear everyones noise

Service:

positive:
- the bread every morning was quite fresh

negative:
- Breakfast was expensive
- Carpark needed to be paid each time of leaving the carpark => Hotel does not have their own car park
- house keeping is also not cleanest
- unfriendly staff

Had the feeling, since there is no other competition, the hotel probably can also play around with their customers since this is just a kind of business hotel.

I only hope the service and quality will improve in the future.

“Designer Hotel in a Designer city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

Brilliant location bang in the heart of Almere, in an area with minimal traffic. Gym next door. 10 minute stroll to the train station with direct route to the airport (45 mins).
Very modern , spotlessly clean room with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!
Ambient bar and lovely staff, but pricey at 7 euro for a beer. I didn't bother with breakfast as it wasn't worth it at 17 euro.
I loved the hotel and the city (mad architecture).......I hope to bring my wife back for a short break soon.

“Only recommended for short stays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

Wether you are on vacation or on a business trip, the hotel seems to be geared for short stays only. The main reason being that there is virtually no storage (furniture) in the room. Internet connection, modern interior design, (somehow) trendy restaurant and bar and friendly personnel are all "good stuff" and I will continue using the hotel on my future SHORT business trips to Almere.

“Ok hotel, functional, design. Watch out for noisy AC vent!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2009

Stayed here on a Sunday night in June, paid 105 euro, plus 17 for breakfast. Lady at the reception was really nice, hotel looks very modern and fresh, located in the centre of Almere, which seems deserted of people, where is everyone!!?? Room is nice, large bathroom, nice clean design, but:..... only twinbeds available! Not very good, since most travellers (incl myself) prefer a large bed. No minibar in the room, so we had to get drinks in the hallway....The hotel and surroundings are very quiet, so nothing should have prevented me from having a quiet sleep, only that the AC vent is very noisy.... could not switch it off, so kept waking up. Breakfast was OK, is served in the bar area. The next mroning after checking out, walked to the trainstation, the receptionist informed me that it was a 10 min walk, and there would be signs on the way. It took a lot longer to walk, and i did not see any signs, some kind people showed me the way.
