We stayed in the Avenue in early December but this was our second visit as we had been there almost exactly a year previously. At first the situation seems a little underwhelming as Aboulevard is a busy main road which can seem a little run down in places and there are no obvious attractions close to the hotel; if fact its situation is excellent. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from Forum metro station which is on a direct metro line from the airport, 15-20 mins walk takes you to the centre of town but again the metro is on hand as well.
Reception staff were efficient and friendly and of course spoke perfect english. There was free wifi and bicycles and umbrellas were available for guest use. Our room was well equipped and comfortable rather than luxurious but I would suspect that rooms at the front of the hotel could be noisy.
There are two outstanding features of the Avenue; the comfortable and cosy lounge and the superb breakfasts. The lounge has a pleasant bar, very comfortable sofas, a great range of books and magazines, board games and on our first visit a DJ playing classical music mixes! The buffet breakfast is probably the best we have had anywhere. There is the usual selection of cereals, cold meats, cheeses etc and wonderful fresh rolls and pastries, everything to a very high standard. A great start to the day.
Right across the road from the hotel is the start of Norrebro, the hip, edgy part of Copenhagen akin to Spitalfields in London or Lower East side in New York. Great bars, restaurants and funky shops. Ignore the graffiti but watch out for the bikes!
