“Aggressive Hotel Manager”

We stayed at this Hotel during August, 2011, we had booked four nights.

The hotel receptionist and driver were wonderful and the hotel itself was nice. However the credability of the hotel was brought down by the Aggresive Hotel Manager. We had booked this hotel over a year in advance, when we arrived we were told they had no rooms available and they could take us to another hotel for the night and upgrade us the following day. The Hotel Manager was rude and arrogrant and had a take it or leave it attitude and was not very understanding that we would be upset by this. The following day, we were not upgraded and didn't bother to confront the manager, as we wanted to enjoy our holiday - not answer to an aggresive, rude person.

Please keep in mind it is NOT walking distance to the main town, you either need a taxi or hire a bike and we found in August it was very windy and you could not enjoy the pool facilities.

To be honest, I wouldn't waste your time with this place. Perhaps if the Manager left, it would not have any bad reviews.

“Will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be hard to leave. The staff were extremely helpful and helped make my Mykonos experience one I will never forget.

I had told my travel agent that I needed a twin room, unfortunately when I got there it was a double, but the staff were quick to resolve the issue and separated the beds.

Having a bar by the pool was great with the bartenders bringing you a drink when yours was empty. Lounging around during the day then watching the sunset is truly amazing.

The hotel itself is about a 10 min ride (quad bike) from town, which wasn't an inconvenience because it was fun riding on the quad.

The room was cleaned daily and was of a good standard.

When I ordered food and when I was able to get up in time for breakfast, I was suprised at the standard. The food was delicious.

Room Tip: My room was next to the bar/pool. It can be noisy if there are alot of people at the bar, but it clo...

“Lovely Mykonos experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights of our European Honeymoon and found the staff to be nothing but helpful and attentive, from our airport transfers, check-in and advice on which beaches to visit! The property is beautiful, simple and chic! Our room was large with a lovely sea-view balcony, plenty of space and we loved all the 'mood settings' with the lights. The breakfast each morning was delicious and offered something for everyone, while overlooking the pool and the sea! We tried out the restaurant one evening and loved our meal, although there was only us and another couple. The bar/pool area is a nice place to relax when you don't want to head out to a beach. Have the bartender make one of his own creations... you won't regret it! The Wi-Fi is only available near the front desk/hallway.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and place to stay!

A couple of recommendations.... rent a car or scooter from down the road to explore the island and check out as many beaches as you can. All roads seem to spider out from Mykonos town, but even with having to go back and forth to head out to another beach... we covered the whole island in a couple of hours! You can also drive to Mykonos town in just 5 minutes and park your car in the parking lot just outside of town. Spend your evenings checking out all the OPEN shops and wonderful restaurants.
There is a little grocery store next to the car rental place where you can pick up cheap water, food and alcohol!

Room Tip: If you're willing to drop the cash, the Suites with their own pool out the front sliding door wo...

“Dont Stay Here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We stayed at this hotel during August 2011. The service from the staff was terrible. Our bathroom was absolutely rotten with mould in the shower and in between all the tiled surfaces. The floors were dirty and the jacuzzi is a household bath on the balcony. Even after asking housekeeping to re-clean the bathroom it was still terrible. Overall a very unpleasant stay.

“Simply overrated... Bathrooms could use a door!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The Mykonian Mare is the absolute contemporary hotel with Cycladic touches. Luxurious is not a word I would use to define this hotel, but then again, luxury is such a broad term...

We didn't dine in the hotel and we definitely missed breakfast, so I won't be able to comment on that (for once)... Arriving at the hotel on the agreed time, we had to wait for 2-3 hours for the room to be prepared, so we took advantage of the opportunity to get a head start at the pool bar. The staff was very friendly and quite competent, although they didn't seem very apologetic for the delay in getting us to our room on time.

The views are breathtaking, but then again, if you are in a Greek island that's usually a "given".

The room was interesting.... At first at least... The mattress was so uncomfortable, (actually there were two mattresses next to each other) which I found simply unacceptable... Every morning wake up was complemented with excruciating back pains. I am not going to mention the long crack on the ceiling, which I can of course understand but cannot excuse. It is a seasonal hotel, but then again these things should be sorted out prior to the opening.

The highlight of the room in my opinion was the fact that we had a glass shower in the corner of the room across the sink. The toilet and a second more private shower on the other hand, were located in a closed area in the corner of the room which lacked a door and instead used a beed curtain... For practical purposes, the bathroom should at least have some sort of air vent (I'll disregard the fact that in order to wash your hands you have to go to the main room where the sink is located). If I enjoyed this freedom, I would have gone camping instead. When I addressed this issue with the hotel staff, they explained that it is all part of the modern design of the hotel and that it is designed particularly for couples.

Concluding, the service seemed fine, the bartender was pleasant, the parking lot could use some asphalt in order to avoid all the dust whenever someone comes or goes, they should get a single and soft mattress for the double bed and the bathrooms could use a door (at least for the prices they charge the guests for the rooms) I am not sure all rooms are like that but I would like to hope that we were the only lucky guests to enjoy this absolute "luxury"...

Thank you for taking the time to read my review,

Room Tip: Request for a room with a single and comfy mattress and if possible for a room that has a bathroom d...
