“not only the view is amazing...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

We spent our honeymoon in Mykonos and stayed at Amazingview hotel. First of all we thank Maria, the owner, and her son Mathew who took very care of us and so they made our stay a unique one. We stayed in an apartment suite very nice and clean with a jacuzzi on the terrace and a real amazing view. We really liked decorations in the room which made us feel like at home.
We definetely recommend this apartment hotel for those who are looking for something special.

“Simply... amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

If you're looking for a base for exploring Mykonos, with possibly the best views of the island, privacy, peace and quiet, large comfortable and cool rooms, the possibility to cook and make your own food if you want, and to enjoy a little authentic Greek hospitality... then we highly recommend Amazing View Hotel!

The rooms are among the largest we have seen in a hotel and were very fresh and clean, with pleasant colourful decorations and big windows to enjoy the views. The beds were huge! The kitchenette are very convenient and we enjoyed breakfasts on the balcony and a drink in the evenings watching the sunset out over the water. It was enjoyable to shop at the local market stands for cheap and very fresh fruit and veg.

Location is fabulous, driving up a charming narrow winding road up the hill to the hotel all decorated in the traditional white and blue. It's far enough from the centre to allow plenty of privacy - unlike many of the other resort hotels on the island - yet Mykonos town and a number of great beaches were only a couple of minutes' drive down the hill. All rooms have sweeping views of the bay, Mykonos town, St Stefanos beach and distant islands - we drove all over the island and didn't find a better view.

The hotel is run by lovely Maria, who made us incredibly welcome and along with her son Iacob made us feel like we were being hosted by a true Greek family rather than staying in a hotel... Maria respected our privacy and we only seemed to notice she was around when we actually needed her assistance. She was very helpful and able to recommend some great places to eat and drink - as well as the best 'secret' beaches around the island.

We had planned to split our stay in Mykonos between Amazing View and another more expensive 'luxury hotel'... but after one night in the other we checked out early and returned. We just felt so much more relaxed and at home.

As for complaints by other travellers about the hotel being far from the town... Mykonos is quite large and if you're not prepared to hire a jeep or scooter like everyone else then you might want to consider a smaller island or a crowded (and more expensive) beachfront resort. In fact for nearly all of the better resorts you would need to wait for a bus to get into town anyway. However we really enjoyed exploring the island on wheels and, yes the hotel is at the top of a hill, but how else could you get such a great view?!

One last thing to point out is that, although the star rating on TripAdvisor shows 3*, we're fairly sure that the hotel was certified as 4-star. It was certainly better than most 4 star hotels we've experienced.

We will without a doubt be recommending Amazing View Hotel to all friends and family heading to Mykonos... you won't be disappointed!

“10 stars for Amazing View Hotel, Mykonos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

The service from the owner, Moria, was fantastic. You can see that she takes pride in her work and in room, there is a lot of attention to small details. The view is truly amazing, both in the morning and at night. You can see the city, ferries, lights at night. It's also quiet at night and you can get a good night's rest. Room is very clean.

All we can say is, we didn't want to leave the hotel and wished we can stay there for years. Great place and great service to match.

“Truly an amazing view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2009

On first arrival and meeting Maria, we felt very at home. The room although not your usual hotel room was more like a studio apartment with a great view. Sitting on your balcony, watching the venue below and out at sea made for a very relaxing feel. At night the doors and windows were left open to the night breeze. Truthfully, the trek up the hill to the hotel whether by foot or by car can be seen challening but none that able bodied individuals wouldn't find phyiscally satisfying. If need be you can rent a moped or atv ( I personally wouldn't advise this) or leave the vehicles on the plateau just down the hill. The bus stop infront of the beach directly infront of hotel is ideal for going into town. I truly enjoyed my stay at the hotel and the wonderful Maria made it all the more unforgetable. Efchristo! Maria ..........

“Nothing more than a view”

Despite being our most expensive lodging over our two weeks around Greece, the Amazing View was our most disappointing accommodation choice. Really all that this hotel had to offer was clean rooms and a good view and that was all they had to hang their reputation on despite those same traits being readily available all around the Cyclades. Supposedly we got a free upgrade, but we were disappointed to have paid €100/night for the room we got. I understand that the annoying shower which is really just a hose to the wall is common practice, but at other establishments we managed to get a normal shower, plus view, plus a pool for less than we paid here. The hotel is such an inconvenient distance from anything that you really have to hire a 4x4 if you don't want to spend an hour hiking home in the heat following dinner. Also it turns out that the port collection service is only a collection service, so don't expect to taken down the massive hill to be dropped off for your ferry. All together a very disappointing accommodation choice.
