It might help to know that this is a B&B , not a boutique full service hotel, so you don't get phones or TV in the rooms. That said its a pretty good B&B though and the English/German owners are very pleasant and helpful. My colourwashed room was very good, with a double aspect and a view up to the perched village of Montalto, which sits just above the property. Breakfast was much nicer than in most middle grade hotels, with good fruit and proper coffee in particular. There is a lounge with lots of local information and other diversions, again with a balcony and great views.
Negatives? Well can't think of many actually. Some nervous drivers might find the 600 yard drive along the unmetalled "Strado Bianchi" a little difficult to start with but frankly its fine and i have no compunction in taking my car (well, Mr Avis' car actually) along it even at night. You can eat in Montalto though if you want a really good meal you might be advised to take the 20/25 minute drive north to I Piceni. Its worth it.
This part of Marche is hilly and is an attractive landscape which looks a little like a patchwork. There are lots of hill villages, which all look interesting from the outside- the art being to find out which ones are interesting on the inside without having to drive through (almost) impossibly narrow streets and find a parking spot- or alternatively a walk right up the hill. The owners can help you here- they've been around a few years.
