Great location in Nidderdale but arrived at 'reception' which involves knocking on a kitchen door and the smell reminded one of school dinners. Shown to room by lady who we did not see again and room was in annexe which was small and sparsely furnished with tiny TV in corner. We had asked to bring our dogs and it may be that this room is the only 'dog friendly' room but it was far removed from the rooms illustrated in the website. Entered the bar for dinner through a very cluttered drawing room which did not seem to attract any visitors during our stay. The food in the bar was very good but like the rest of the decor it looked like it needed a makeover. Breakfast is offered at nine which seems a little late. The cooked selection was delicious and served by the friendly staff who could not be faulted for their enthusiasm.
I suspect that this hotel has a loyal following for the food and service but it is unlikely to attract a new and more discerning group of visitors without moving into the 21st century with regards to decor.
