“Wonderful Property...Our Favorite during Trip to Tuscany”

My husband and I both felt that this property was the best B&B of our trip. Violeta and Cecillia were there during our stay and couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful.

The house is divine, full of charm and brimming with antiques. Our room was large with a modern ensuite and had pretty views of the surrounding hillside. The breakfast room is lovely also, with large doors that open to a quite steeped street. Very good quality breakfast served - fresh meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and cakes.

Palaia is a quiet town, with terrific views. There are 2 bars, a restaurant, a pizza take-away and a gelateria. We enjoyed the bar nearest the B&B and we had a fabulous meal at Antica Pharmacia. The gelato was very good too!

If you are looking for quality accommodation in a quiet hilltop town, this is it. We simply had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Will definitely return!

“Amazing place!”

We just came back from spending three wonderful days at Antica Dimora Leones. As a Hotel Manager in Barcelona, I looked at several properties before deciding to book this one. The hotel is amazing, with a lot of attention to detail and a beautiful decor. Our room was spotless, with wonderful views of Palaia and its surroundings. Breakfast was delightful, with homemade pastries and jam (we even stayed in the kitchen with Manu while she was baking) and capuccinos prepared by Andrea himself. We were able to enjoy the garden, the reading room, and even the kitchen table for our evening "wine and cheese" dinners. Although Palaia is not right in the center of Tuscany, it is only an hour-drive from the most important sites, and the peacefulness of the town and the incredible hotel are worth the drive. Thank you to Andrea, Manu, Cecilia and Violeta for making this special celebration an unforgettable experience!

“Absolute Gem”

The accommodation was beautiful, with all rooms we saw being spacious
and individually decorated. All rooms in the house were furnished in typical tuscan style and spotlessley clean. Your hosts Andrea and Manuela are very warm and hospitable people who obviously have taken a pride in the renovation works and welcome all guests into their home. The garden is a very peaceful place in which to sit and read or simply relax after a hectic day exploring the surrounding areas. The jacuzzi area is great to return to early evening when you are tired from seeing the many sights in Tuscany, a great way to unwind.
We felt that it is really necessary to have a car and found that there never seemed to be any problem in finding a car parking space in Palaia. We ordered an evening meal during our stay and this was simply outstanding and not expensive as wine was included in the price. Beautifully prepared food, approximately 6 courses in total, and served in a private dining area.

Palaia is a delightful, away from the madding crowd, village. There is a small but lively pub nearby, two further eating venues as well as a couple of bars where the locals have beverages and pass the day away. Recommendation would be to book a day or so in advance for the restaurants as they both got fairly full. Once back in Palaia for the evening there is sufficient venues so no necessity to drive. Definitely a place to return to and recommend to friends. Idyllic setting and fabulous hosts. We will be returning.

The medieval town of Palaia is a beautiful place. The views are spectacular. Hotel was very unique, has been refurbished to very high standard, but has not lost any character or charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return to this hotel.

“A taste of true tuscan courtesy!”

Hotel Antica Dimora Leones.
Reviewer: Michael Scott

Since discovering this wonderful Hotel, over one year ago, I have stayed here at least a dozen times.
The hotel is situated in the midst of Palaia a beautifully preserved medieval hill town, replete with ancient churches, narrow winding streets and wonderful views; strategically placed almost equidistant between Pisa, Florence, Lucca and San Gimignano it provides an ideal base for the exploration of Tuscany.
The Hotel, as its name Antica Dimora implies, is a wonderful tastefully restored palazzo, the former home of the family who now manage it. Whilst the hotel has every modern convenience, air-conditioning, en suite bathrooms, a Jacuzzi, the richly decorated walls and intimate rooms furnished with appropriate and tastefully chosen antiques gives rise to the impression that one is a private rather than a paying guest in the home of some illustrious merchant of former times.
This feeling of intimacy and ease is further encouraged by the truly Italian welcome of Andrea and Emmanuelle, the proprietors, the lavish breakfasts and the many comfortable sitting and reading rooms arranged throughout the hotel for relaxation.
Hotel Antica Dimora is a haven of solicitude and old world courtesy and represents, for me, the true character of Tuscany.
