“Lovely off the beaten track Tuscany”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel and village. It is a quaint place and very handy for exploring tuscany. we stayed with a new born baby and had a fantastic room with gorgeous antiques in it. would agree with others that the bar next door is a bit loud and they could be a bit more considerate to tourists in that respect. local church bells are great, but on the hour and half hour can be a bit much. would absolutelt recommend dinner at a restaurant next to the church tower on the main street called Antica Farmacia. We are pretty discerning eaters and went back twice after our first meal. Juri is the guy who ran it and hislovely wife speaks english as does he. fod was fabulous. There is also a gelateria in town that does great coffee and fig and marscapone gelato.
breakfasts in antica were really good.. parking was ok, in offseason, but will be hard in busy times.. do go for a walk to the old ruins on the top of the hill- great view over local area.

Room Tip: great for a small family.

“Great - but”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2009

It is a wonderful building and the rooms are lovely. Unfortunately the bar across the narrow road is very loud and it opens until everyone has gone home! This can be + 2am. The people from the bar are very friendly but it is used by the locals from a large surrounding area who dont seem to need sleep. They arrive on motorbikes and in fast cars.
Then you have two Bell Towers. These chime on the 1/2 hour and hour 24/7.
The Village is lovely and the people friendly.

“A relaxing stay in Palaia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2008

We spent 2 nights at the Antica Dimora Leones with our 2 children aged 11 and 9. The bedrooms are very spacious and full of character whilst the bathrooms are modern. Everywhere in the hotel was spotless and we were made to feel at home by Violetta, who looked after us the whole time we were there. The hotel was very quiet - we were the only ones staying and so we had the run of the whole place to ourselves! Palaia is a quiet hilltop village but close enough to Pisa, San Gimignano etc.. We ate in the village both nights, once in the restaurant down the road and once at the pizzeria. The children enjoyed a gelato at the gelateria. We throughly recommend this hotel B&B if you want to see the real Italy.

“Wonderful Property...Our Favorite during Trip to Tuscany”

My husband and I both felt that this property was the best B&B of our trip. Violeta and Cecillia were there during our stay and couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful.

The house is divine, full of charm and brimming with antiques. Our room was large with a modern ensuite and had pretty views of the surrounding hillside. The breakfast room is lovely also, with large doors that open to a quite steeped street. Very good quality breakfast served - fresh meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and cakes.

Palaia is a quiet town, with terrific views. There are 2 bars, a restaurant, a pizza take-away and a gelateria. We enjoyed the bar nearest the B&B and we had a fabulous meal at Antica Pharmacia. The gelato was very good too!

If you are looking for quality accommodation in a quiet hilltop town, this is it. We simply had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Will definitely return!

“Amazing place!”

We just came back from spending three wonderful days at Antica Dimora Leones. As a Hotel Manager in Barcelona, I looked at several properties before deciding to book this one. The hotel is amazing, with a lot of attention to detail and a beautiful decor. Our room was spotless, with wonderful views of Palaia and its surroundings. Breakfast was delightful, with homemade pastries and jam (we even stayed in the kitchen with Manu while she was baking) and capuccinos prepared by Andrea himself. We were able to enjoy the garden, the reading room, and even the kitchen table for our evening "wine and cheese" dinners. Although Palaia is not right in the center of Tuscany, it is only an hour-drive from the most important sites, and the peacefulness of the town and the incredible hotel are worth the drive. Thank you to Andrea, Manu, Cecilia and Violeta for making this special celebration an unforgettable experience!
