We were doing a tour of Finland with my family (husband + 4-year old), and during that we spent two nights at Keurusselkä. The scenery in the area was really beautiful; hills, forests, a large lake with small islands, ... a good word would be serene. Walking down to the beach in early morning to watch the still, clear lake is enough to melt a year of stress.
I agree with the previous review by "novacaine", that the location is somewhat stuck to the 70'ies, but that actually didn't bother at all. It was best represented by the room equipment: a new flat screen TV, combined with a stereo equipment from the early 80'ies. On the other hand, the room was very nice - we had a separate bedroom, small front yard with view to the lake, and our OWN sauna, which was a really nice surprise.
The staff was very friendly, and the food in the restaurant was really good, I especially liked their warm sandwiches - definitely not healthy, but good taste. The funny part about the restaurant was that it's also a local dance restaurant - and by dance I mean traditional dancing, with live performances. True Finnish countryside stuff.
The spa-area was small but clean, with a little poolside bar and an outside terrace on the hotel roof. Didn't try any treatments, though there was plenty available.
There was also a large playground for kids, and the lake had a really shallow beach, where you could walk around 100m before the water even reaches your hips. Inside the hotel there was also a large playroom with lots of toys and games.
