“Holiday Inn with a Golf Course - I second that opinion!”

I bought a deal off of WagJag - Lakeview room with breakfast and a $50 spa credit. I was *so* exited for a relaxing mini vacation.
The room is large, with a comfy king size bed. The room was dusty, the coffee maker and kettle were broken. There's no bathrobe or slippers, no nice smelling hand cream. It's very basic. There is nothing luxurious about this hotel. They do not offer room service. The staff are really cranky. The breakfast consisted of cheddar scrambled eggs, yogurt, cornmeal muffins, bagels, toast (one toaster for the entire restaurant) and fruit salad.

The spa at EganRidge is THE worst spa I have ever been to. There's no soap in the bathroom or anywhere else, the furniture is old and doesn’t match and they made me wait 20 minutes in a bathrobe in an open (dirty) waiting area. I reserved a seaweed body wrap, what I got wasn't worth 20 bucks. The teenager who gave me my "spa" treatment smelled like cigarettes. She rubbed exfoliator on my back, arms and legs for maybe 8-10 minutes then gave me the bowl of exfoliator and told me to finish off in the shower and left. Once she returned , she rubbed seaweed scented cream on my back, legs and arms, tucked a sheet under my legs and left me there for 25 minutes. That's it, that's all and charged me $200. I felt completely ripped off.
If this is part of "Ontario's Finest Inns", I wonder what the criteria is? Another writer wrote the perfect description: Holiday Inn with a golf course". Your money is better spent somewhere else.

“Our Favorite place to get away.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We have stayed at Eganridge many times and have experienced both the Terrace rooms and a cottage. Personal preference is the Terrace room by far, the beds are the most comfortable we have ever felt in a hotel or inn, the rooms are well appointed with a fire place (electric), fridge, flat screen tv and more. The bathrooms are clean and very large. The cabins are nice, but we found the beds less comfortable and the furnishings dated ( heh.. its a cottage )
We love the golf course, a nice 9 hole that is not over challenging but a nice way to spend the morning. The grounds are well kept, and the building as well. The restaurant is the only place we find less than a 5, the room has wonderful views, and comfortable seating, just the food is not as good as it could be, don't get me wrong, it is not terrible by any means, just not as amazing as the rest of the things at this Inn.
We have found ALL the staff just a joy to deal with, right from the golf shop to the bar to the restaurant and the front desk, everyone seems more than willing to help to make your stay special. ( BTW... TY to all of you )
To sum things up, this is a great little get away for 2.

“Not allowed a meal!”

Recently I was guest of Eganridge. We went out golfing for most of the day and then returned to our room to relax for a little while before having dinner . I ventured to the restaurant at 8:20pm to sit and have a meal. I was told by the lady with the french accent that the kitchen was closed and all I could have was a salad. I did have a ceasar salad which was wonderful and full of flavor but I felt I was rushed. I was not even allowed dessert.
I wish someone at the front desk, a nice but preoccupied lady , had told us the restaurant and pub hours. As it was I went to bed hungry and very disappointed.

Room Tip: all rooms have a view of the lake. Stunning

“Not worth it -Holiday Inn with a Golf Course...”

they stipulate that you mist stay 2 nights minimum. they also charge way too much for what you get. I spent over 200$ a night for our wedding as did most of our guests. for that I expect something nice... the rooms were dated, the staff wasn't pleasant and it just wasn't up to snuff. The complementary breakfast isn't even edible and if you want something more you need to book for 20 people. very strict rules for a very poor experience.
Don't act like you're the Ritz when you're nothing more than a Holiday Inn with a golf course!

“Very nice but not the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We stayed for three nights at Eganridge Inn and Spa and had a very nice, relaxing time. The Inn itself is in a beautiful location - high on a hill overlooking the lake. Our bedroom (Terrace Room upper floor) was large, clean and had a marvelous view from the balcony. We are not golfers and did not use the spa, but between reading, watching DVDs on the nice flatscreen in our room, relaxing and shopping in the charming villages of Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon and Lindsay, there was plenty to do. The staff at the Lodge were friendly.
On the downside (hence not 5 stars) - the fireplace was pretty sad - only a small blue flame akin to the burner on a gas stove and we were told that was the best the fireplace could do - shame on a cold night! The bathroom, while large and clean, lacked the ultimate luxuries of a 5 star establishment - no makeup mirror, poor lighting, no robes, no replenishment of soaps or shampoos.
The biggest downside however was the food. The restaurant in the lodge is beautiful - gorgeous views from large windows, nice decor and overall quite grand. The food however is mediocre at best. I'd recommend sticking with the pasta dishes (okay) - overall even the green salads (at $10 each) lacked taste - the dressing glopped over them. We had dessert one night - pretty plain; the salmon dish - bone dry! - so we had lunch in town. Unfortunately the weather and the early darkness discouraged us from venturing out for dinner to other places. As for breakfast - yuck! The eggs looked green; the 'continental' was what you'd find at a Best Western - dressed up to look fancy with nice tableware and china dishes.
Despite the big disappointment with the food, Eganridge is still a lovely place. We'd recommend it IF food is not a priority (ie. high price/average to low result) and we'd return IF the restaurant menu improves.
