“Beautiful gem in the rough.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2010

This is a small, lovely Villa in the country about 15 minutes drive from Pisa airport. The room and common areas were clean and the grounds and gardens were beautifully manicured. They have a restaurant on site that is highly recommended for price, presentation and quality. The staff was friendly and helpful. I believe they will pick you up at the airport but I don't know if a fee is charged. The management's attention to detail was noticeable. A Continental breakfast was included in the room charge. About the only complaint I can come up with was the occasional smell of manure from the adjacent farms.

“Fee payer rather than guest”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2009

What we liked:
Location - wonderfully quiet
Bathroom - very clean
Bed - comfortable
Complimentary guide to Pisa

What we didn't like:
Room was well furnished but very dark and the lighting was extremely poor, but most of all we disliked the written warnings to prevent bad behaviour of 'guests'. It starts in your room, where you are informed in the leaflet that if you overstay your welcome in the breakfast room you get fined the cost of another breakfast on your bill. Then when you get to the breakfast room there's a notice on the drinks counter that you are allowed ONE coffee/tea only. We don't usually have more than one anyway but how much would it cost them to give a guest the occasional extra? Also that you are not allowed to take food away - not much of a temptation because it's not a brilliant breakfast anyway, but that's par for the course in Italy. The Italians aren't great at breakfasts, but the two other hotels we stayed at in Tuscany were much better at breakfast than this one.

Then on the wall in the breakfast room there's another notice telling guests "to avoid any nasty misunderstanding" (!) that they are not allowed to eat food brought in from outside (there's no restaurant) anywhere except their rooms, that they can hire a corkscrew but if they break it they will have to pay for it.

The girl who served breakfast was delightfully friendly but this didn't make up for the bad atmosphere created by the notices.

All in all what comes across loud and clear is that you as the guest are there on sufferance to pay them money. They expect guests to behave badly and are not concerned about whether they have a nice relaxing stay, but rather that they pay up and leave without wrecking the place.

Perhaps they've had bad experiences in the past but that's no excuse for expecting the worst of future guests. If there was somewhere on the hotel website to leave comments I would have done that before 'going public' on Tripadvisor, but there isn't. Perhaps they're not interested in what we think anyway!

“Good for an over nighter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2008

We booked this hotel because we needed to make an early getaway to Pisa Airport on the following morning and for that purpose it was fine. Based on our experience, though, I would not recommend a longer stay. I cannot comment on the breakfast as it was not available at the time we had to leave. The room was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. There seemed to be just one member of staff who acted as receptionist and who would also get you a drink on request. Maybe it was slightly out of season when we went, but it did not really feel like a hotel somehow - just somewhere to sleep. That said, I would select it again in preference to a soulless chain hotel nearer the airport. The journey to the airport took 10-15 minutes.

“10 euro fine - careful!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2008

If you check-in after 11pm they expect a fine of 10 euro, which you don't have to give them because is not written anywhere, neither in the terms and conditions, that condition is written beside the door and you can find out only once you are there.

“Heaven in Tuscany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2007

We landed in Pisa at 8.00pm and it was already dark! However with the help of google maps it was very easy to reach the Hotel!
The Staff was very helpful and being that we were hungry we ordered a bottle of wine, a cheese platter and meat platter !! it was great ! We stayed at the hotel for five nights ! the room was nicly furnshed and the bed sheets were changes every 2 days ! It was also equipped with an aircondition/central heating. Breakfast was great too! the Italian Style ! We also asked the reception to suggest us some places to eat in Cascina! we found a really great pizzeria ! in the town centre ! Nonno Umberto ( on mondays it is colosed) the was also a small restaurant ! we had a really good 'Bistecca Fiorentia' Bocca del Bocco is also a great restaurant ! If you intend to go relaxing it's the ideal locations! Latigniano is a small village and you will hear the village church's bell form the hotel! is amazing ! Well done to all at the Hotel !
