“Friendly, comfortable, a great location”

We chose this because it seemed like a good deal--the dollar doesn't go very far in Europe! Receptionists are friendly, helpful, and speak English. The best part is the location--wonderful day trips from here, but also a very quiet place to relax. Lovely canoe trips, Provence villages, Avignon, Pont du Gard, all within easy reach (you need a car).

Be prepared to pay a lot extra for sheets and towels. The kitchen has the basics, no worries there. Cleaning is not included, but also don't expect it to be spotless. The blankets don't get washed between stays (not sure how often), so if you want to be sure they are clean, bring your own (laundry is on site but expensive).

“Blooming hot- no air con”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2008

This is in a beautiful setting- about 30 mins drive from Avignon . The apartments are very nice and generally appear quite clean, however, as with some apartments the previous occupant cleans the toilets, baths etc. So basically you are relying on them doing a good clean. It is consequently superficially clean. We felt that the toilets had almost definitely not been cleaned. Two out of three of us came away with athlete's foot. From the shower? Of course I cannot prove that and it was VERY hot.

No air conditioning! We had to buy a fan.

The swimming pool was so busy with kids that we did n't even bother- despite the heat. There are NOT enough sunbeds- so get up early. Also hardly any shade. I would n't take young children there.

The golf course looked fantastic but you need to book in advance for the coolest times.

Restaurant was good but with a limited menu. Staff very good. Breakfast is a complete rip off so please do not bother unless you want to pay 8 Euros for a coffee- two mini croissants and a pat of butter.

The best part is that you are in a perfect place for exploring the beautiful surroundings. I loved Rousillon for the geology, Glanum for the Roman ruins and Isle sur la Sourge for countless shops and restaurants.

“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2007

We arrived in Avignon on the direct line Eurostar summer service train. It was so quick and easy. A really good way to travel down to the south of France. I’d highly recommend it.

We had to queue at Avignon station at the Avis car hire desk for about an hour, but it's a good job we had pre ordered our car, because the man in front of us hadn't and they didn't have any spare cars for him. We managed to find our accommodation fairly easily in about 40 minutes, following the road signs which are pretty good actually.

Our accommodation was a self catering apartment at Provence Country Club, just to the east of Avignon, yet right in the country, next to a lovely town called Isle sur la Sorgue, and a national park. I managed to book the apartment last minute so wasn't sure what to expect because the booking was just for me and my husband, but it was billed as being for 6. I wasn’t disappointed. It was a lovely kitchen/diner with 2 separate bedrooms, very clean and with plenty of equipment to make your stay enjoyable. Not sure if 6 could have comfortably inhabited it, but it had a nice balcony and lovely views.

The resort itself was well run, clean, friendly, English speaking, with a swimming pool (which was too cold!), tennis courts, golf driving range and golf course. Neither of us can play golf but we managed to hire a club for about 2 euros, and you can get about 35 balls for 2 euros to have a go on the driving range. I believe lessons are available. To keep costs down we didn’t eat out that much but did have a good meal in Isle sur la sorgue and in the club house in the resort. My husband is a vegetarian and the chef was happy to put something together especially for him when there was nothing he could eat from the menu. I had a fantastic steak (well done of course!) and with views over the golf course and of the setting sun over the mountains it’s a pretty wonderful setting.

We may even go back there because it was such a good base from which to explore the many interesting places around it.

Overall, it was a lovely, quiet and relaxing break and the weather was great. A highly recommended destination.

“A relaxing short break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2006

We came over to join some friends who had bought an apartment at Provence Country Club and we rented a 2 bed apartment near the pool and reception area. It was very clean, well furnished and a good size and a cot was provided with linen for our 1year old. My husband played golf and we had a pleasant trip to Isle sur la Sorgues to see the antique market. Staff were courteous and very helpful despite our poor command of French and the restaurant staff looked after our son at breakfast despite the number of crumbs which ended up on the floor. We intend to return this October for longer.

“Views of the Vaucluse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2006

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Club and had wonderful views over the Vaucluse mountains from our terrace/balcony. It was cool in the evenings in late September but sunsets were spectacular and starry nights even better. The club had not long been opened in fact some parts were still being finished, but our apartment had had several previous occupants and was still in excellent decorative order. Pleasant provence colours throughout. Plenty of crockery and pots for cooking and manageable kitchen appliances (good dishwasher). Comfortable beds and large sofa-bed in living room. Did not use restaurant but it looked ok. Did not play golf but it looked well laid out. Outdoor pool nice size and well looked after, as was gym. Small down side - linen hire extra, so if you want clean towels every day or so, must pay each time. Good base for sightseeing rest of Provence, must see Avignon, Les Baux, Roussillon, Arles. Nearest town is the pretty Isle sur la Sorgues excellent for shopping and sitting people watching outside cafes.
