We spent 4 nights at the Hotel del Teatre in early October as part of our honeymoon. We stayed in the Junior suite, which was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with all the usual amenities. My husband loved the Bang and Olufsen TV/DVD and the B&O phones (even one in the toilet!). Reception has CDs and DVDs you can borrow. Although the junior suite is on the ground floor it still felt very private, and the only sound we heard was the village bell.
The only tiny gripe I have is that on arrival we were informed that the restaurant was closed (except for breakfast) for the next two days. This was a bit of a problem for us as we didn't have a car and taking taxis to neighbouring village restaurants got pretty pricey. When we finally got to eat dinner at the restaurant it was worth the wait though, with delicious food, a decent wine list and great service. Breakfast is equally impressive. The lunch and dinner menu is the same, and it didn't change while we were there, but there is plenty of choice on it.
Next time I would hire a car as public transport can be a bit erratic. The hotel does have mountain bikes you can borrow to explore the countryside (about 20 mins ride to Pals but the beaches are too far away).
This hotel really caters for couples, and provides a lovely, peaceful environment to unwind, eat, drink and be pampered. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive, and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable. All staff spoke English which saved us from relying on our terrible Spanish! We found the Hotel del Teatre to be the ideal base for exploring a lovely part of Catalonia, and we can't wait to go back.
