“What a Find this was”

We went to the Anderson on a friends recommondation and what a find it was. I've never been to a pub that has knitting nights but that sort of sums up; The Anderson is different. Our room was a bit tired but, for all that, it was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent as were the evening meals served in the restaurant; they were superb. There were two bars, one which seemed to be a whisky bar with an amazing choice of Single Malts to choose from. There was a really friendly atmosphere although sometimes the staff seemed to be rushing about doing two or more things at a time and maybe not giving quite the level of attention they might have done. Nonetheless, this was a very enjoyable visit and I would go back again.

“Nearly Walked Past !”

Having been in the licensed trade for 20 years I am so glad I read a notice in the window and went in. This establishment should be a model for any village pub that is going under. The formula is simple - good beer, good spirits and good food make good business. Those 3 bring in good customers. Good customers allow your to provide the fabulous range of beers, spirits and food. Added to all of that friendly, knowledgeable staff and you have the Anderson.

“First class!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here for a night with Roy my black lab, and had a first class time. Great food, staff, beers, the works. I've stayed in a lot of small hotels recently and the Anderson was head and shoulders above anything else. I can't sing it's praises highly enough. Very dog friendly and hospitable.

“It's really as good as all the 5 Star Reviews!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid October, and absolutely loved it. This hotel is the perfect antidote to characterless coporate hotels. It has bags of character, a genuinely warm welcome, fantastic food and an awe-inspiring selection of beer, wine and malt whiskies. It's a perfect base for pottering about the magical Black Isle, and sitting on Chanonry Point to watch dolphins, porpoises and seals. Believe all the 5 star reviews.

Room Tip: Treat yourself and go for the Four Poster room.

“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Stayed there for a night during a trip to Scotland's distilleries. Fortrose is just off the beaten track in northern Scotland, quite convenient to Inverness and other great spots. The hotel itself is located in a quaint, typical Scottish town, and fits in perfectly.

The rooms are quite comfortable, and the food in the restaurant downstairs is second to none. The fresh, local menu changes daily, and has a wide selection of option. We had three fantastic meals, the best of our trip. We then moved next door into the pub. The list of scotches is unending, and there are countless beers available. Some the traditional, others you've likely never heard of, and that's the fun of it. I strongly recommend the Black Hole. It'll knock you on your seat, but it's one of the best I've ever tasted.

About 10 minutes from the hotel, you can play a round of golf with a beautiful background, or if you catch it right, watch dolphins playing in the bay.

I'd stay there again in an instant.
