“Average Hotel - Nothing Special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. It is located in a very quaint and pretty small town, Bettona. The hotel reminded me of a Best Western. It was clean, but very plain. Our room was clean but we had a problem controlling the heat and it got so hot we had to sleep with the window open. The bathroom was very small with the shower the size of a coffin! The exercise room, which I don't see often in European hotels, was very bare and one machine was broken so it does not seem like that is a priority for them. We ate in their restaurant, for both the free breakfast buffet and for dinner. Both meals were quite good and service for dinner was fine, but if you are going for breakfast, don't be there right when it opens because they are a little slow in getting things out on the buffet. The staff was friendly, but when we were checking out, the young lady did not know how to operate the credit card machine so that delayed our check out for a while until someone else on the staff arrived for work who could operate it. While I would not recommend you avoid the place, I certainly would not encourage you to stay unless you needed to stay in Bettona (I think this is the only hotel in the old part of Bettona).

“Top quality hotel for a taste of rural Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

We stayed at the hotel for one night during our honeymoon road trip through Europe. We stayed at over 20 hotels on our honeymoon and this hotel was one of our favorites. It was rural, intimate and located in a peaceful and rustic location. We stayed half board for a fantastic price. The evening meal alone was worth the money we paid. Not much to do after dinner but we hung out in a local bar and watched the local nightlife unfold. A fantastic experience we won't forget.

“Amazing location and nice people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

La Corte di Bettona is a medieval walled village on top of a hill, so the views are stunning. The hotel has basic rooms and the restaurant is very good as you would expect in Italy (i.e. very good). If you have a car, I'd drop off your luggage at the hotel and then park it outside the town walls and simply walk up the outside staircase to the hotel. If you park in the square then you're likely to get trapped, I was, twice. I was the only non-Italian staying and the town is a lively one; I enjoyed seeing the christenings and the general bustle. Be warned: I was at a wedding nearby and the coach driver refused to take me here afterwards as it's quite steep and very twisty to get to. Driving a car is okay though. All in all a very unique location. Umbria is not as well know as Tuscany, probably slightly more industrial and much less touristy but it's certainly not less beautiful. You can fly to Perugia, which is worth a couple of nights also. Assisi is near too.

“Totally worth it (Vale assolutamente la pena...)”

I have spent 5 night for business in the hotel, and this is probably the 4th time, or so, I use it. The location is fantastic, with wonderful views of the Umbria's valley with Gubbio on the other side. The hotel uses two separate buildings in the core of the old village, probably hundreds of years old but restored very well at the highest standards. It's a real pleasure to have the breakfast on the panoramic terrace (which also has the swimming pool, unfortunately I didn't had time to use it...).
I'd suggest to check about wi-fi availability in the specific room: the service is there, but due to the massive walls (some of them probably over two feet) not all the rooms can actually get a decent signal. The personnel has been however extremely willing to help on that, I was actually able to tour 4 different rooms with my notebook on till I found the one with the best signal.
Another thing to note, a few of the rooms face another building from very close, which is not that nice of a view even if it's an ancient wall. I'd suggest to ask for a room with a view on the valley.
All in all, a very nice place with very friendly and helpful personel. Even a recent change in management hasn't lowered the standard.

“Fantastic hotel in a quiet location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 May 2009

This is a lovely hotel. The staff are exceptionally friendly, always helpful and willing to spend time advising on other places to visit in Umbria. The quality of the food in the restaurant is first rate, though a little on the pricey side. The bedrooms vary in size. We paid the basic rate, and though the room was quite small, it was very well suited to what we needed, and cleaned spotlessly every day. We did peek into other rooms, and no doubt could have had a much larger one. Seven days stay in the location is probably a little long, but only because the town of Bettona is very small (500 people). We'd stay again, and probably will do so.
