I and my family had a very nice stay at the Poggio degli Olivi. Our two B&B rooms were large, clean and very nice and, above all, the location is magnificent and very quiet. The main building, where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, overlooks the valley and you can see Assisi on the other side of the valley. Truly a stunning view, especially early in the morning and in the evening. The whole area is beautiful, immerse in olive trees and woods. Breakfast was excellent, although you may be disappointed if you don't have a sweet tooth. Coffee/Tea, usual cereals, many kinds of jam/marmelade, crostatas, breads, croissants, fruits, yoghurt, a bit of "salume" and cheese but not much. We had dinner there once and ate very well (good food and very well presented, with a table overlooking the valley, quite a treat). Overall, food was very good although I would not say memorable. We could not try their "osteria", which only opens during the week-end.
One other reviewer complained about "not having any place to relax except his room". I cannot fathom how this could have been the case. There is a very nice outdoor swimming pool (but see below) and the whole property is full of lawns, tables and chairs where one can relax and enjoy the place.
The several staff I dealt with were nice and friendly (I cannot judge on their English because I am Italian). You have to drive a few miles to reach the place from the main road, but you can't miss it if you follow the directions and signs on the road. The location is excellent to visit many of the beautiful towns in the area: Assisi, Todi, Spello, Deruta, Montefalco, Perugia and many others are not far. If you like red wine, do make sure you try Sagrantino di Montefalco!!
I would certainly recomment this place to a friend, although it was not perfect (but what is?). Here are a few things which could have been better (but don't forget that my overall review remain overall very very positive):
- lots of mosquitoes (and smaller suckers) in the evening, and no screens.
- the pool opens and 9AM (way too late!!) and closes at 7PM. You are required to use a bathing cap, which I think is absurd. But anyway no one was wearing one, and no one of the (present) staff ever enforced the rule. They always keep fairly loud music there, which I thought was a bad idea, but I never tried to have the music switched-off or the volume reduced.
- my Jacuzzi didn't work.
- the showed is badly designed: you cannot hang the shower head anywhere so you have to keep it in your hand while you use it, which is really silly.
- the WCs are not well designed and the flush did not clean very well.
