I wanted to surprise my husband with a romantic/relaxing weekend Feb 3-5. I picked this property b/c I thought we could just park and stay put for the weekend while enjoying a nice restaurant, spa, etc.
The bad:
-I sent an email/contact form 3 weeks ahead of time with specific questions about the restaurant and the spa. NO RESPONSE
-Requested a room over the phone with a bay view as suggested here on TA. We were placed in a room overlooking a side street.
-There is a musty smell in the rooms, but it is historic and not completely updated
-The main restaurant was closed for dinner which meant we had to ride into AC for a nice steak dinner. I would have stayed in AC if I knew the restaurant was closed ahead of time. I guess that's why they didn't answer my question :)
-Lastly, I noticed the staff did not greet us when we came and went as they did for other guests. At the front desk, they only replied when greeted first. I noticed the valet and front desk staff eager to greet a man with "Welcome back sir". I entered behind him and they said nothing. Funny thing, he was a not guest but I was. He asked me where he could find the ATM as a local business told him he could find one in the Seaview. It was disappointing.
The good:
-The lobby and other areas on the ground floor have been updated yet still have a classic look.
-My room was changed after I complained to the front desk
-Nice to wander around and read some of the history behind the hotel and the golf courses.
