“It was nice but.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I wanted to surprise my husband with a romantic/relaxing weekend Feb 3-5. I picked this property b/c I thought we could just park and stay put for the weekend while enjoying a nice restaurant, spa, etc.

The bad:
-I sent an email/contact form 3 weeks ahead of time with specific questions about the restaurant and the spa. NO RESPONSE
-Requested a room over the phone with a bay view as suggested here on TA. We were placed in a room overlooking a side street.
-There is a musty smell in the rooms, but it is historic and not completely updated
-The main restaurant was closed for dinner which meant we had to ride into AC for a nice steak dinner. I would have stayed in AC if I knew the restaurant was closed ahead of time. I guess that's why they didn't answer my question :)
-Lastly, I noticed the staff did not greet us when we came and went as they did for other guests. At the front desk, they only replied when greeted first. I noticed the valet and front desk staff eager to greet a man with "Welcome back sir". I entered behind him and they said nothing. Funny thing, he was a not guest but I was. He asked me where he could find the ATM as a local business told him he could find one in the Seaview. It was disappointing.

The good:

-The lobby and other areas on the ground floor have been updated yet still have a classic look.
-My room was changed after I complained to the front desk
-Nice to wander around and read some of the history behind the hotel and the golf courses.

Room Tip: Bayview rooms are better in my opinion. (less musty, better bathroom layout) Go during the high sea...

We appreciate your feedback. As you've noticed, our lobby areas were renovated last year. This year's schedule included renovating the kitchen, which has just been completed.

I sincerely apologize for the gap in communication when you made your reservation, as well as for the less than hospitable treatment you received. Clearly, we were not performing to our usual standards. I have reviewed your feedback in details with the appropriate managers, and we are implementing steps to ensure this won't happen again.

Thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback, as it helps us grow on a regular basis. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more positive experience.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I wanted to plan a surprise trip for my wife to celebrate her birthday and just get away (from the kids). I was looking for something relaxing yet I wanted to have something fun available too. I looked online at so many places within driving distance of Northern New Jersey that offered a little of everything at an affordable price. The Seaview Resort was the perfect fit. The hotel has a majestic feel. It offers the warmth and comfort of a bed and breakfast yet it maintains the grandeur of these old historic hotels. I am comfortable with old... but it must be clean. This hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the staff was VERY hospitable. I priced rooms in Atlantic City for the 2 nights and I was unable to swing such a hefty rate. The rate at Seaview was VERY reasonable. I treated my wife to a massage with manicure / pedicure at the Red Door Spa at Seaview while we were there and my total bill was less than the cost of just a room at the casino hotel. We had a town car from Tony's Taxi take us into Atlantic City for dinner and some gambling and they picked us up when we called to return us back to the resort. It was a wonderful weekend and I would do it all over again the same. The Seaview Resort was a greatexperience.

“Wonderful winter stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Stayed at the Seaview for 5 days right before Christmas while my house was undergoing renovations. The hotel looked beautiful with poinsettas and Christmas tree gracing a beautiful, old world, immensely large lobby area. The winter getaway rates for 3 or more nights at 25% off made this my only pick of where to stay in the area. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very professional. Special touches in the lobby area were that the fireplace was ablaze with real wood, and every night when I arrived after work, there was a large urn filled with different crushed fruit-filled water... strawberry water, orange water, honeydew melon water. Wonderful!! I stayed in the junior executive king, very spacious room with a separate dressing, makeup area and a completely marble-tiled bathroom. The bathroom was so large, with a separate tub, (also very large), and shower, with about 7 showerheads. The king-size bed was comfortable with luxurious bedding. I requested a room with a view of the bay and away from the elevator.... The sun rising over the bay to the east in the morning was was just beautiful. I loved walking the long distance to the elevator as there were framed momentos of the past along the whole corridor, pictures, menus, etc. Just going to and from the elevator was a terrific experience, to stop and look at the days of old. Also the beautiful floral carpeting just added to the experience... In the evening there was the gym, with totally modern, updated, large locker room area, the heated indoor large pool, bar, restaurant and gameroom. There is even an art gallery near the gym area. On Friday evening the restaurant had a holiday buffet, that was delicious and service was tops!! This was one of the best hotels I have stayed at for comfort, and a quiet, old-world charm experience. There was even a bar, restaurant across the road that you could walk to for some down home kind of food/drink experience. Loved, loved, loved my stay at the Seaview!!

Room Tip: I chose the 3rd floor for east view away from elevator for the view and quietness.

“it was ok”

Nothing spectacular, guess the fact that they didn't tell us the kitchen was under construction, thus no hot food. If that wasn't Bad enough, no room service. So we had to get dressed after settling in after dinner, and go downstairs to pick up a bottle of over priced white wine. Besides that, the grounds are very well maintained, and the indoor pool was nice. I would say to ask if the kitchen is working, if you want a hot meal.

Thank you for your kind words and constructive feedback, as it helps us grow on a regular basis. Our lobby area renovation was completed last year. This was the first phase of our renovation schedule. Our plan is to complete additional phases of renovation each year in the winter months. Our kitchen renovation was completed last week, and I'm happy to report that our food and beverage outlets, including room service, will be open for full service by the end of this week.

We'd love the opportunity to welcome you back to experience all that Seaview has to offer.

For the price and the quiet surroundings this was the perfect getaway. Room was immaculate. Bed was comfortable, bathroom spotless. They are working on updating some areas but all in all it was perfect. Would go back again.
