My one week stay at Ulpotha was exactly what I was looking for: a gorgeous environment, a lovely group of people, and activities which were active, and meaningful (but all optional). I really appreciated the design of the space. Everything you need, in a beautifully simple design. In addition to a bit of swimming and leisurely biking, I had plenty of time to reflect, read, enjoy the nature, and talk with new friends. And did I mention a fabulous massage? : ) The yoga classes were such a gift. Although I have been practicing on and off through classes or dvds for more than a decade, I've never had the ability to have a real individual practice, but now, I have been practicing on my own without a problem. I was a bit worried by the mostly-vegan cuisine, and lack of sodas and coffee I'm used to, but I was so surprised that I didn't miss a thing! And it was all excellent! I expect to be back next year, and already looking forward to inviting friends. A note: while this was a perfect place for me, be aware that it is very nature- and simplicity- focused - it is a jungle after all - so if you are afraid of insects or require electricity, it may not be for you.
