We stayed here last Sunday night and had a great time. The hotel is perfect for a quiet romantic break as it is in a good location in the centre of the village. We were given a nice cosy room with a comfy very large bed and was spotless. It has a small warm bar area leading to the restaurant completely with an open fire. The atmosphere here is relaxed not stuffy.
We ate in the restaurant for our night and it was perfect nice service and good food what more can you ask for?We finished of our bottle of wine in front of the open fire loops nearly fell asleep it was so cosy.
I have to mention the staff from the moment we checked in to check out they were fantastic in particular Dean F&B manager in the restaurant bar area was just great friendly polite and manarly,we can't wait to go again. Well worth a visit if you in the area or why not make the journey for a couple of nights worth the effort if you like peace and quiet, nice service with good food.

“Lovely & very warming Scottish hotel”

Have just arrived back from a brilliant fun-filled weekend in Aviemore, made even more special by The Boat Hotel! We got a fantastic BB 2 night stay deal through 'itison', however decided to upgrade for an extra £40 to a deluxe room as it was our anniversary!
It was a nice room (We didn't spend much time in it & aren't the fussy or moany type) but it was very spacious, slightly dated for a deluxe however the bed was extremely comfortable & the bathroom was STUNNING, with a huge bath tub!
We had breakfast on both mornings- which was excellent & we had many options to choose from including salmon & haddock- a nice change from just continental or a fry up! Dinner was in the bar next to a cosy log fire, such a lovely atmosphere. We chose the 'Early bird menu' & were very happy with our 2 course meals for only £20.
Staff were very friendly & welcoming, especially the tall gentleman in a suit (duty manager?) who always smiled & chatted to us!
Excellent location for outdoor activities, cycling, skiing, hiking- there's so much to do! We went skiing up in the Cairngorms, which was the highlight of our weekend :)

All in all, a lovely wee hotel with some real character & charm. Id recommend upgrading- defo worth it!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a deluxe or the garden room!

“Excellent hotel. Comfy beds, good food, friendly staff.”

Had a two night stay. Beautiful room with four poster bed, well appointed en suite. The bed was very comfortable, we had a great sleep. Had full a la carte dinner on the first evening - it was excellent. Second evening we had the 'early diners' option which was also very good and great value. Breakfast was very good - I liked the choice of smoked haddock and egg - rather than the usual full Scottish fry up. The hotel does some good value deals to help make the cost of your break a bit more affordable.

Good base for walking and cycling, excellent cycle hire shop next door with knowledgable and friendly owner. Boat of Garden steam railway station is right next to the hotel which must be a great sight when it is running, the station itself is lovely, Boat of Garten golf club is 5 mins walk away.

Room Tip: This is a dog friendly hotel

“For a good Scottish experience try the Boat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I find it difficult to write a review that truly reflects this hotel. I have stayed here on many occasions and it is really a delightful traditional Scottish hotel and would highly recommend. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is well above average and bar area is welcoming with log fire blazing day and night. Why do I find it difficult to write this review. Prices for an overnight at the hotel vary tremendously, depending on who you book through and what accommodation you get. The single rooms tend to be in need of upgrading and things like broken shower fittings and little space in the room makes the experience of staying at the Boat less pleasant than it should. Having said that, I'm sure this will not be the case with the more expensive rooms however, I don't feel that quality of experience should be compromised whether you are on a late deal or paying full price and staying in a single or double room as your stay at a hotel will determine whether you come back or recommend. Finally, I noticed the heating was in short supply - it was minus 11 when we arrived. On arrival the radiators in my room had not been put on and the room was freezing, heating went off late evening/on again early morning but by the time I was ready for breakfast around 8.30 am heating had gone off again. Too bad if you wanted a long lie you would have missed the heating...... This hotel suits all age groups and is a good example of Scottishness!!!! Overall this is a great hotel but management should reflect on any negative reviews.

Room Tip: Quality of room will depend on what you pay. Be prepared for a very average overnight stay if you c...

Have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and would thoroughly recommend it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff; great food in the Bistro restaurant; excellent location for all outdoor activities in the Cairngorm area - a welcome alternative to the large 'hotel chain operations'.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the State rooms - well worth the extra space and quality of fittings.
