It is no accident that many of the guests here have been coming for year after year. You might choose this hotel as the only one with a sizeable swimming pool in Palekastro but people come back time and again because the hotel staff are so friendly and enthusiastic. The surrounding area is of outstanding cultural importance both archaeologically speaking and because this is one of the least spoiled landscapes and communities on Crete.
The welcome I received here from staff, locals and the ex patriate community was quite incredible. If you are a grecophile travelling alone, as a family or as a couple and want to experience the magic of eastern Crete then his is one to put on your 'must visit' list. Walkers will enjoy the fascinating gorge and coastal walks especially in th spring.
Anyone, like me, with an interest in ancient history will be delighted by the number and importance of the sites here and in the surrounding area and the importance of the excavations at Palekastro is hugely underrated. The folk museum is one of the most intriguing I have been to in Greece over the years I have lived and travelled there. Do not expect luxury and sophistication but if you are a small and friendly fan then do not miss this gem. As a bonus the windsurfng and kite surfing here is amongst the best in the Mediterranean especially duing the Meltemi months.
