My husband and I visited Faros Suites for one week in September. We stayed in room 6 which was beautifully furnished and decorated with a great view over the bay and the harbour. Although we were provided with a continental breakfast daily, the suite came complete with a fully equipped kitchen. Complimentary tea/coffee and cold water was provided until 6.00 p.m daily.
Breakfast on the terrace was made more enjoyable by having chats with Tassos, who is the most charming and welcoming host.
Fiskardo is a charming port full of restaurants and bars and the most delightful coffee shop which served the most exquisite pastries. During our stay we sampled numerous restaurants but our favourites were Lord Falcon (Thai restaurant) and Elli's. Fiskardo has such a wonderful atmosphere especially on an evening as all the yachts return into harbour. We found the meals and drinks to be reasonably priced with a varied selection to suit all tastes.
Faros Suites is a short stroll from Foki Bay which is a small pebble bay where the water is so clear and there is a taverna serving Greek specialities with a most welcoming atmosphere.
It is a five minute walk to the harbour where you can hire a motorboat complete with canopy and cool box to spend your day crusing around the bays or across to Ithaca. We found that the most cleanest and best value was DD's Boat Hire and Internet Cafe.
We also hired a car and visited Assos, which is a quaint fishing port. We also visited both Myrtos Beach and Anti Samos Beach (where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed) and the underground lake - 7 euro per person for five minutes seemed quite steep.
We had the most fantastic holiday in Kefalonia, so relaxing and peaceful we are planning to return next year, although we plan to book directly with the hotel and pick up our own flight, as we booked with Tapestry Holidays but never saw the rep during our whole stay. Tassos provided all the services we could possibly have required.
We will return next year.
