“Very Very Very Enjoyable - Esp the Sunday Papers !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

I have been lucky enough to have travelled to many many countries , using various accomodation from 5 star and above - to low cost Budget . I stayed at this Apart-Hotel a couple of years ago and did not leave a review at that time. After reading the reviews that have been left I feel i must put pen to paper. Alex is without doubt the BEST HOST that I have ever meet whilst on Holiday. There was not a thing that he would not do for us . Alex read my son the riot act on arrival as he is rightly protective of what he and his family has established maybe this may have upset a few parents BUT Alex treats everyone the same and explains the do's and dont's before getting to know the children. The Island is Fantastic, Its how a Greek Island should be for those that have travelled, Its in a great position regarding Bus travel that can get you to the southern beaches or the opposite direction into the town. very cheaply. There is of course a local beach a very short walk away. Local eateries and a very good restaurant opposite with views over the Bay. Holiday here - clean tidy and everything Greek . - Recommended. - If you read this Alex Thanks for the great stay. - Stuart June & Conor.

“Great apartments, good location for beach and bus stop....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2010

My husband and I travelled there last May, we found the apartments spacious and very clean, Lovely big bathroom and kitchen. A terrace or balcony with each one, they`re cleaned every day. Very close to the beach and the bus stop is right outside the gate. Alex is very welcoming and helpful if you need anything,I`ve read a couple of reviews about him being arrogant, which isn`t true at all parhaps when your dealing with some of the idiots that do go on holiday hell bent on just getting drunk and being very loud you may appear arrogant if you tell them to respect the other guests. As for his beer prices being that expensive!! rubbish they`re the same price as anywhere which we found quite reasonable.( Skiathos is one of the more expensive Greek Islands anyway) If your used to Benidorm prices parhaps that does seem expensive!! Overall I would recommend it to anyone....

“Just what we were looking for...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

We have just returned from the Agalos Studios in Kolios and we had a wonderful time. Alex, the owner was a great host and greeted our worried questions about air conditioning (can't sleep without it) and the safe (paranoid about crime) with 'Relax, you are on holiday, go and unpack and then come down to the bar and have a drink.' Which we did. Yes, the air conditioning comes at a price- but then it always does- and all the safes have the same combination (no charge for this) but I still had peace of mind. Actually one day we forgot to lock the safe but nothing went missing. Anyway, on one of our trips into the old part of Skiathos I counted 3 sets of house keys on the outside of front doors-if the Greeks weren't worried, why should I be?
We had a large studio- the biggest I have ever stayed in, and a lovely balcony from which we could see the pool and the beach. The room was cleaned every day except Sundays and I lost count of clean towels and changes of sheets. The kitchen was small but had ample equipment- we don't go on holiday to cook 3 course meals-and although the units were a bit worn they were fine. The bathroom was compact but served its purpose and I have yet to find a Greek shower that maintains a constant temperature, so no surprises there.
The pool area was fine and Alex did clean the pool every day. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, although some of these had seen better days, but so what?
The studios are close to the main road but we did not find traffic noise to be a problem and slept very well, a miracle in itself as we were so relaxed we spent large parts of each day asleep round the pool or on the beach!
Alex makes fantastic cocktails and is very good company. He is an intelligent, charming man and is full of information and very interesting to talk to. We have read the unpleasant review about him and it is insulting and untrue.
Kolios is a tiny place with a couple of supermarkets, a few tavernas- we loved the taverna on the beach (Shirley Valentine moment), Infinity Blue-quite posh, lovely food and Stathis-turn right onto the road and walk up the hill. 10 minutes walk to the left brings you to Paraskevi, more tavernas-Jimmy's is lovely and the Platanas bar-comfy chairs and candlelight. The main road is scary at night- no pavements and you need to have your wits about you!
The bus stop is right outside the studios and we caught the bus a few times during the day to go into Skiathos. You have no chance at night as the buses are packed by the time they reach Kolios and unless you fancy being a sardine get a taxi- you can flag these down.
We went on two boat trips- don't go through your tour operator- do it yourself. Take the 2 island trip to Skopelos and Alonissos-25 euros each and also the round the island one for 20 euros each- both fantastic experiences.
This holiday was 'just what we were looking for' in every respect and we wish Alex luck when he goes it alone next year. We will be recommending it to our friends. All I can say is, thanks, Alex for a wonderful, memorable holiday- we wish we were still there.

“gorgeous place with amazing company”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2009

I would also like to say that there are some serious moaners on this site who obviously have not visited Greece before. For the record ALL the places I have stayed in over my eight years visiting Skiathos and other Islands are the same. Safes do not have codes that change, bags are left at the bar on the last day, you have to prepare for travel in the toilet and I am yet to find a Reception that is not a bar. That is what Greece is like. that is why I love it...!!! It's about experiencing something different that is not like home..!! If you want five stars then pay the prices and stay at the Plaze hotel...!!

We had a fabulous time at Agalos. They were huge, well cleaned, the gardens were lovely and Alex the owner could not help us enough. The other family that I believe were being targeted in someones review as "chavs" were lovely. That's the biggest load rubbish I have ever heard. They were a really loving family who clearly enjoyed each others company and having fun on their holiday. They made my kids holiday by including them even though they are much younger and our holiday would not have been the same without them.

I would go back to Agalos any day of the week. Alex is lovely. He calls a spade a spade which is refreshing. I read some terrible reviews before we left on this site and thought he must be a total monster but he was a pussycat. We enjoyed his company in the evenings as we were out most of the day and his Greek banter very amusing. This is probably the nicest place we have stayed on the island. It is close to the road but noise was not a problem to us at night. It also has the benefit of being close to the beach, the bus stop to town and one of the nicest places to eat, "Infinity Blue". Thanks Alex for a great holiday..!!

“Had a brill holiday!!!!!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2009

When we arrived we were greeted by Alex who owns the complex, he appeared very friendly and asked us to meet him in the bar for a chat and a drink,he told us all about the tavernas that were local and all important info relevent to our stay, we were a little concerned about having a two year old in a very hot country but Alex said if we ever needed him day or night to knock at his house which was on the complex. The rooms were cleaned every day and my daughter always made a mess but that was fine!!!
The pool was lovely and i was delighted that the area outside the pool wasnt slippery as they sometimes are!!
We had a lovely two weeks holiday Alex made us laugh till our sides split and we also enjoyed more intellectual conversations with Alex talking about greek history.
On the whole we had the best holiday and i had a tear when our bus came to take us back to the airport!!!!!!!!!
