“Great choice, could not fault.”

We decided to visit Barbati again after 22 years. As there are not really any UK tour operators in the area so i chose to do it independently using trip advisor as a starting point.
The Pantokrator did not let us down at all. Even before our arrival Elaine put my mind at ease via email and helped with a couple of requests i had.
We stayed in a luxury room and even with the late arrival the staff were so helpful. I was very impressed with the room and the gorgeous views. One very noticable treat was the water pressure for the shower. Also having a kettle and fridge made it perfect, and the air con does a very good job.
Thinking back to the old days we were not expecting too much at breakfast, so we could not believe the choice. - the only thing missing for me was a decent slice of bacon :-) and quality juices.
We did a couple of evening meals and again the days we chose were very good, and the chefs were more than happy to help if you needed anything. I would also like to say that the waiting staff do a brilliant job and nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff.
We did not mind that it was mostly europeans staying. We went for a complete chill, and we certainly had that around the (extra large) pool. Always plenty of loungers with everybody relaxing quietly with books etc.
Yes, the hills could be challenging, especially when very hot, but i sure did feel the benefit when i got home ;-)
I did not think the village of Barbati had changed that much in over 20 years. It was great to see a couple of the restaurants still there and the views over to Corfu town are stunning. After waiting so long i cannot wait to visit again and The pantokrator is definately the place to stay.

“Peaceful, beautiful and incredible view!”

I have loved my stay at Pantokrator Hotel. I have felt so welcome and well taken care of here. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The room is clean and has a breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea.. which is a short walk down hill from the hotel. The pool is cool and refreshing and also has an incredible view. The bar, balcony and reception area is stylish and comfortable. I have no complaints at all, it has been a wonderful place to stay and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: The luxury rooms are stylish and uniquely designed.

“Very nice location, low quality of standard rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Pro:
- Very nice view
- The place (Barbati) is not very touristy
- The lobby, restaurant and room service is extremely helpful
- The meal (breakfast and dinner) is very good and varied

Contra:
- The standard rooms are old and uncomfortable (all pictures on the internet show luxury rooms only!)
- These rooms (particularly in the 1st floor) are very close to the parking area and to the air condition of the kitchen and the lobby - extremely NOISY, especially in the night!
- The bath room is old and not very well maintained
- For an air condition and a fridge you have to pay extra (8 and 3,5 EUR per day, respectively)
- The closest beach (200 meters away) is extremely small, dirty and difficult to arrive. A good beach (in Barbati) is ca. 500 meters away, including 300 meters along the main street without pedestrian path

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms in the 1st and 2nd floors - very noisy. The see view is hindered by the lobby build...

“Good as always despite the Germans!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We spent 8 nights at Pantokrator in September 2011. This is approximately our 10th stay there. As always the views are stunning. We always stay in a luxury room, and the hotel have done even more luxury rooms this year.

Elaine and Draigos at reception are always extremely helpful. The snacks at Carla's pool bar are always excellent and remain at a good price. There is no English tour operatior at the hotel now, so only 6 English people there whilst we were staying. Despite being 85% German's staying at the hotel, you can always get a chair bed at the pool any time of day.

The flavour and choice of food remains good, but the food could be warmer! Barbati is a lovelly quiet place, so don't go there if you like lots of life! The walk up and downs the hills can be challenging!!

Overall a great holiday again, we will definitely go back but would like to see the temperature of the food improved, and the hotel put back with some of the English providers.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are best for the views and easiest to walk to!!

“Not the best place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

The hotel is old, not very well maintained and has few advantages and disadvantages.

Don't go to Pantokrator if:
- You are allergic to bees, wasps etc. There are a lot of them around the pool, in the restaurant, sometimes even in the rooms.
- You are without car and don't like steep hills.
- You expect the hotel to be over the beach. It is not, it is far than it look likes on the pictures.
- You expect to have a supermarket nearby.
- You expect a sandy beach closer than 20km (Kalamati for those interested).
- You expect fridge and air condition free of charge in the rooms (these are charged 3.50 and 8.00 EUR respectively per day). It is very hot in the hotel rooms, especially if they have roof directly exposed to the sun whole day long.
- You expect internet connection. It has a WIFI, which is unusable or unreachable for most of the time and areas of the hotel.

Go to Pantokrator if:
- You expect wonderful views.
- You expect nice food with good variety.
- You expect cheap holiday and can ignore the negatives.

Overall, the rooms are OK (except the fridge and air conditioning), the restaurant is very nice, the pool area as well. However this hotel has negatives described above, that I would not ignore in the future and I will never come back to that hotel.
According to me, the package for that hotel and the quality it offers is significantly overpriced.
