“A Great Escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We have just returned from a fantastic stay with Nick and Helen at their beautiful home in Paxos.
We stayed in the Zanzibar room for the first 4 nights which is even nicer than the photos. The standard of the decor and all the work done on the property is excellent. You feel as though you are staying in a boutique hotel rather than a b&b. As we were the last guests of the season, Helen upgraded us for the last four nights to the stone cottage in the garden, which again is beautifully decorated and has everything you could need in it.
The best thing about staying here though is the hosts. Helen's breakfasts are delicious and every day she made us different cakes and bread, all of which were really tasty, and you are just made to feel really welcome.
The property is about 20mins walk from the beach, but we really enjoyed the walk each day and only hired a car for one day when the weather wasn't so good. Helen arranged all this for us and suggested walks and places to eat etc.
We really hope that we will be able to stay here next time we travel to Paxos. This was our third stay on the island and this is easily the best place to stay.

“Perfect for a relaxing break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Looking for a Greek island where we could escape from London for a few days we came across Paxos, and from Trip Advisor we choose Zakspitaki near Loggos. We certainly didn't regret our choice, Nick and Helen were wonderful hosts and the home cooked breakfasts really are as good as everyone says, each day bringing a different selection of tasty fresh breads, meat, cheese, preserves, lemon curd, cakes, cookies...

We stayed in the cottage which was large, well equipped, very nicely decorated with a lovely kitchen which we really made the most of by using it to, er... cut limes for our afternoon G&T's and to keep the wine and beer cold. Had we wanted to rustle up a feast it was good to know it was there, but the local restaurants were just too tempting.

The terrace outside our bedroom had a lovely view of the well tended garden and out across the sea, but bear in mind that the price of the bird's eye view is a fairly steep walk to get down to the beaches and to Loggos (a lovely picturesque walk down, a bit of a chore coming back - although I suppose it does help you work off all that humous).

Our week there felt like a second honeymoon and we would happily go back again - what more can you say!

“Two weeks in Heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

After a stressful year, arriving at Helen and Nick's 'Summerhouse', tucked away at the back of their rambling garden felt like stepping straight into paradise. I loved my little shaded sitting area where, surrounded by roses, vines and gnarled olive trees, I sat looking out onto the sea. My bed was the most comfortable I had ever slept in, and it had the added bonus of a mosquito net! Then there was the shower room which, apart from its beautiful stained glass windows, afforded a fantastic view of the sea.The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable . Each morning Helen served a glorious breakfast of mostly homemade breads and cakes, local honey and yogurt and fruit. There was enough to pack a parcel for lunch (something Helen suggested). She also helped me out with extra maps and detailed descriptions of local walks and shortcuts to the different beaches in the area and other useful information. The only thing that could have improved my stay was the relative distance of the house from the coast. Most guests rented a car. I decided to walk and found that it took me a good 20 minutes down to Loggos. The return journey, uphill, took a little longer. Still, the advantages of the beautiful setting outweighed the disadvantage. I had the most wonderful time.

“A Gem on the island of Paxos!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

My husband and I cannot say enough about this little jewel -- Helen and Big Nick were consummate hosts, taking every detail into account for our June stay. From Big Nick meeting us at the Port upon our arrival, to Helen's amazing breakfasts each morning, this place was a true treat. We had the small separate room at the top of the hill, and loved the privacy -- the weather was nice and cool, so sleeping with the windows open each night was perfection. Be sure to try the restaurant down the hill (a beautiful walk!), it has the most breathtaking views, and the food was the best of our entire trip (we ended up eating there each night!) We will absolutely be back to visit Helen and Nick on our next trip!! If you're looking for a beautiful relaxing stay in Paxos, this is the place for you!

“Wonderful retreat either for family or couple!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Nick and Helens house in Paxos. We stayed in the converted barn in the garden which was superbly layed out for us and our 2 boys (aged 8 and 11). Breakfast was lovely, and Helen even sent us off everyday with freshly baked muffins, biscuits, and cakes as we headed off to the beach. The B and B was so well laid out it felt like you were there on your own. There was another couple on honeymoon staying at the same time - which shows just how versatile it was. The location was brilliant - Loggos was beautiful with a huge array of beaches. We hired a car which is a must if you want to get about to see Paxos. We also hired a boat for one day which was great fun - but to be honest - one day on the boat was enough. We would definitely stay at Zakspitaki again - and have recommended it to all our friends and family. Helen and NIck were superb hosts, there was a well stocked DVD library so when we sat outside and had a drink in the evening our boys could chill out after a days swimming and watch a DVD. The kitchen was really well appointed - so if we wanted to cook we could. There was ample room for the 4 of us, it was clean, tidy, the plunge pool was lovely, and we will go back again!

Room Tip: Hire a car!!! Take mosquito spray!!
