On arrival at Armonia Bay Hotel I pulled back the bed spread and discovered two holes in the top sheet. The owner was not in residence and the hotel had been left in the hands of two very capable but overworked managers. The housemaid had departed and the hotel seemed cold and empty. No one had told us on booking that we would be among the last guests of the season. I agree with other reviewers that the setting is beautiful but my general impression was that the property needed more hands-on attention from the owner.

We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Armonia Bay Hotel. We were greeted by Elpida, and she made us feel very much at home, as did John and Aristotelis. The hotel overlooks Tsamadou Beach, about a 10 minute walk downhill from the front door of the hotel. The beach has crystal clear water, but the rounded pebbles make beach shoes a must. The hotel is located less than 10 minutes drive out of Kokkari, so a rental car to explore the island is a good idea. Elpida and John both were very helpful in making suggestions for day-trips. One place to consider visiting is Manolates, an artists' colony atop a steep lush hill, about 30 minutes drive from the hotel. Breakfast at the hotel is substantial, with great fresh squeezed orange juice. We stayed in Room 32, ask for it if available, it has a bedroom, bathroom, sitting room with minibar, a large balcony, and another huge balcony with its own sun chairs and umbrella, overlooking the pool. We will definitely stay here again, can't wait.

We spent a week in Samos at the beginning of September not only is it a beautiful Greek island, unspoilt by mass tourism, but we were also lucky enough to stay at this relaxing, well run comfortable small hotel. The rooms are a good size, insist on one with a sea view, the pool was superb and the position, up above a small unspoilt bay, magnificent. We also thought that the team that run the hotel were magnificent. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the holiday complete. Sounds too good to be true? Then try it for yourself! No restaurant but restaurants not too far away from the hotel and a good breakfast provided.

I feel very lucky to have chosen Samos as a destination, and in particular the Armonia Bay Hotel. It's set on a hill overlooking an undeveloped beach, and looks out over olive groves to the coast of Turkey. Beautiful moonrises in the evening. The hotel has a lovely outdoor area with a pool and plenty of shaded places to sit and relax. The rooms are not luxurious, but are comfortable and clean. Lots of marble everywhere! The minibar even has cheap bottled water, which is usually charged for at an extortionate rate anywhere else I have ever been. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but very nice, in particular the ability to juice some of the island's oranges. A tip for dinner is Dona Rosa at Avlakia, a 2 minute drive away - vegetarian food from local produce, making a change from the usual Greek Taverna.
