“a place to relax”

To Nikos and Sofia (and all those behind the scene - the ones we do not see that cook and clean)

Just to say many thanks once more for our wonderful holiday - our third stay!!

We are now back home and do not mean to moan and groan
but here it's not quite the same we have no sunshine but Rain !!

Sofia Nikos and the Trapezaki team
You made our stay go just like a dream!!

From the moment we arrived until we went
An idlylic holiday we both spent!!

We were met by Soula at the airport with a wet wipe - water and a smile
which simply made our tiring journey just seem worthwhile!!

On arrival it was good to see Nikos from the window once again
Especially when he said it was wall to wall sunshine and no RAIN!!

On reception a welcoming Marie was sat
I was pleased to hear that she like my hat!!

To see Sofia once again was a delight
Always ready for a chat - discussing recipes and more - even late into the night!!

To our room we went to unpack - views to die for and a place to rest
Congratulations to your hardworking team - they simply are the best!!

Down for a well deserved drink to the bar by the pool
served with a beer by the lovely Madonna to keep us cool!!

Later in the day Spiros arrived - this year a pony tail - next year a beard??

Back to our room to get ready to dine - to be met by a sweet smiling Angela
from whom we ordered our wine!!

Effie to take our order was next on the scene
funnier and more amusing then she's ever been!!

Opening the wine and having a joke - Nikos you really are a great bloke!!

Full with food - so lovingly cooked by Sofia and her team
its down to the bar for a good night drink before going off to bed to rest and dream!!

Another day comes to rest and eat - The Vacationer's Paradise you cannot beat!!

John and Lesley Thomas - Room 230 August 2011

Room Tip: The top floor sea views rooms have lovely views

“Perfect again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

We have lost track of the number of times we have stayed at TBH but it stretches back 10 years; and we know that TA don't like to many reviews by the same person of the same place but this should be an exception because an annual update is no bad thing. Except there isn't too much more to add.
Still superb and the standards that Nicos and Sophia set 10 years ago have not slipped one bit.
If you want a wonderful relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting this could be the place for you. Their restaurant has improved immeasurably (yes you have to wait but what's the rush?!) the rooms are clean and the views from them amazing.
All the staff, without exception, are lovely and tend to your every need.
It's great and we want to go back as soon as possible - the trouble is too many people have written too many great things on TA - it's hard to get a room, but that is because it's so special and great for Nicos and Sophia. I wish there were more people like them in the world running great hotels.

Room Tip: The 'pool' side get sun all day and can become very hot. The 'mountain' side have fa...

We chose Trapezaki Bay Hotel because of the rave reviews on Trip Advisor - we knew that is was isolated, and that it served the older generation (we are in our 30s) but we also wanted a place to relax and unwind from our busy working lives, with excellent service and facilities. Trapezaki Bay lived up to our expectations, and having looked to see what we were missing in other places to stay, we knew that we had chosen the best on the island.

In a nutshell, the rooms are super-clean, simply furnished- hairdryers are rubbish though so bring your own!

Retaurant food is pretty good, although basic and initially the menu was limited, but I think they are working on that. They need to get more creative with sides...

Pool is fabulous, and poolbar/lunch bar serves good poolside food. If they opened it after breakfast then they could capitalise on coffees etc. We felt it should have been staffed all day from after breakfast.

Car hire is a must- the hotel has the best deals, and if you are feeling adventurous, hire a small 'speed boat' from Bill at 'Escape Club' on Lourdata Beach. Not too expensive and you can swim on secluded beaches and visit all the beaches easily along the coast- and it's great fun! Bill will teach you the basics....

Rooms- we were lucky enough- thanks Maria! - to stay in a suite for the second half of the holiday. All the rooms are fine but to spoil yourself get a suite on the top floor with big balcony and split level accommodation.

Staff- Nico has a terrible sense of humour (in a good way!), Sophia is a lovely lady, fascinating to chat to, but is more in the background. She also runs the kitchen. Spiros, their son, is great for looking after the 'younger' clientele at the bar.
Maria at the front desk is an encyclopaedia of information for every guest and made our stay with her suggestions- she is the same age and knew what we would enjoy.

Many thanks to the whole team

In summary, it was perfect for us this time, and while we are not destination repeaters we would consider going there again in the future if we needed another total chill out.

“Exactly what it says on the tin!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Visiting for the first time this year with my sister and her husband who are ten timers, we had been led to expect a warm welcome and we certainly did receive that. I think many of the other reviews make that point anyway and whilst you could at first be slightly cynical and consider it a bit of clever commercialism after a while you realise that Nico and his team really are genuinely very nice people who want you to have a fantastic holiday with them. The number of couples who return year after year tells you this is somewhere special and I have to say it really is. From the second you arrive it's total relaxation and you just feel so comfortable in all areas of the hotel. The views are stunning and eating breakfast on the terrace tables overlooking the ocean is just amazing. Rooms are comfortable with everything you could need and the public areas are quiet, relaxing and comfortable. I have to say a special thankyou to the cleaners here as the rooms are immaculate, cleaned thoroughly every day. The staff and in particular Nico have this wonderful knack of always being around if you need them but out of sight when you don't. His witty remarks and Greek charm ensure everyone is included in the fun during their holiday. Food is also good with a fine choice, in particular breakfast but we ate out regularly as there are several excellent Taverna's nearby. Having said that you probably do need a car as it's a climb back to the hotel after a night out and they aren't really that close. I suppose that's the only slight negative but it's more than made up for by the hotels other positives. So if you want a truly relaxing, friendly, clean and pretty hotel holiday try the TBH because you will not be disappointed you did.

Room Tip: The rooms on the Poolside of the hotel get the sun all day but it can mean from June to August they...

I would not normally add reviews to sites such as this for two reasons, firstly I'm lazy and secondly because if I have a nice holiday somewhere I really don't want it made harder to book again because the place has become very popular, especially such a small and personal hotel as the TBH. It was idealic, calm, quiet, attentive staff, pleasant rooms, good cuisine, fabulous pool. Nikos and Sophia greated us upon our arrival from the airport where we were met by Soula, who on the short journey from the small airport gave a brief but informed guide to the island - it was our first trip to Kefalonia. The staff were very pleasant and give that my wife had an issue with an allergy for a couple of days - nothing to do with holiday - the could not have been more helpful. They organised everything I asked (Maria can't do enought for you), a car - no problem (would recommend one to view this fantastic island), checking flight departures - all done. There was nothing they wouldn't do. Nikos was in personal attendance all the time and was a great guy to talk to not just for his amusing anecdotes but for anything, he knew the answers or knew someone who did. They, the staff, never forgot anything, the rooms were very clean and the maids (much too a small word for their service) ensured that the rooms were kept that way, towels swapped, room tidy - just - well - perfect. Really I could not critisize the hotel and its operation, staff, or owners in any way. We found that many of the guests were returnees - some since the hotel first opened! The Island is beautiful, remarkably green for such a hot climate and the people very friendly and not at all pushy.

Like all Greek holiday places that we have been to, there can be a 'wait' for dinner at any restaurant and the food is not as cosmopolitan as some other countries though still beautifully made and served - but who cares about the wait when you're in such a lovely setting, don't take your 'fast lane life' with you, you're on holiday!

Kefalonia is a jewel in the Med. Now, please don't go there when I go!

Room Tip: All rooms are well placed, quiet and even those at the back of the hotel have amazing views. We chos...
