“nice holiday but very quiet!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

me and my friend just came bk on sept 16th 2011, we enjoyed arion renaissance, all staff very friendly, we asked for a pool view which we did get but the trees had overgrown so we cudnt see the pool.. but how much time do u spend in the room not at alot so it didnt bother us. beds was very unomfortable and we didnt get clean towels everyday which was disapointing. if u are after a livley or something to do in the evnings i wouldnt recommened staying here as its very very QUIET. The restaurants locally are nice and food from the snack menu in hotel were fine. overall nice holiday clean hotel friendly staff, fantastic beach narby but a very quiet relaxing holiday.. no nightlife in this village nearest village for shops variety restaurants and bars is argassi. i would recommend if u would want a quiet relaxing holiday.

We went for a week in August. The owner (Spyrous FUNNY MAN) and girlfriend were always friendly , helpful and would join you in the bar for drinks and a chat .The room was a nice size and kept clean all week.
The hotel was in a quiet and relaxing area with shops and Restaurants just a short walk away. Just 5 minutes walk to a fantastic beach with free bed and umbrellas
The pool was excellent and all other facilities were all you could ask for. We stayed half board, the breakfast and diner were typical Greek food which made a change from other hotels serving chips all the time.
I would recommend this hotel to other families who want a quiet and relaxing holiday..

“Disappointed”

The staff are lovely and really helpful but you can stay in a better hotel for the same amount of money as there are hidden extras like air con charged at 7 Euros per night! This hotel looks very tired. Pool OK but no cushions on sun loungers some of which are broken.
Though we had booked Band B we went out every morning to The Coffee House as breakfast at hotel was quite awful, our main complaints being: weak instant coffee, no butter - only horrible margarine and tinned peaches? In a country with such fantastic fruit cheaply available why was there no fresh fruit on offer at breakfast?
Secondly if you are completely wheelchair bound this hotel is not suitable. We booked a disabled room for our 2 mothers but there were steps up to the entrance of the front door of their room and you could not get a wheel chair into the bathroom. The shower was not on the wall but hand held so how a disabled person is supposed to cope I do not know. We were told we could put a plastic chair in the cubicle but the cubicle was too small and it was too dangerous. The mothers went half board because of mobility problems and did not enjoy the food. Salad bar the same practically every night and only two main course choices not suitable for vegetarians.
A final gripe, no clean towels for 4 days despite numerous requests absolutely disgusting. Rooms unclean behind headboards and under beds, we found loads of dust, old sweet wrappers and there was mosquito blood on the walls and ceilings.
Won't stay here again. My advice would be if you have to stay here, take your own towels, eat from the bar menu and drink coffee from the bar (extra) and check room is suitable for your needs. We were told there are no baths at this hotel. If you have a car, stay at Joanna's Villas beautiful.

Half lies or Half true and the cost of 35 € is the title for this review from my side …
I found 4 thinks of this review to keep my attention more that the others…
A) (better hotel with the same money and hidden extras)
I always believe that when you decide to go somewhere or to buy anything you have to compare same thinks or if you can’t , to see the advantages or disadvantages and finally to decide.
Arion Renaissance is 250 m nearby one of the best beach of the island around is a forest and nice Greek atmosphere with traditional taverns. I don’t understand the hidden costs. Because everywhere and to the others reviews and to last minute travel agents inform that to this place if you book through them is local charges…
TO THIS REVIEW NOT WRITTEN that The reservation was with special rate 12% discount ..
For example why not written how much cost to stay in a villa like the recommendation villa and why not written the amount that finally have paid to compare with other hotels in a same area or similar and with the same facilities…

B)How much cost the breakfast in a pub or coffee places …??
Cost with coffee and one plate with omelete bacon one slide toast bread beans cake 8€ per person that’s mean 16 euro for 2 persons…
Arion Renaissance breakfast free to eat us you want with choices of bread and toast bread ,choices of cheese, choices of ham ,sausages ,2 times a week Arion made pie and apple pie ,etc..etc..
Remarks for dinner : 2 weeks program for adults ,kids and vegetarian with daily fish and several choices of salads
Every day in August average number of guest for dinner 140 persons

B) I have available to anyone to see the reservation that’s not written about disabled person and special for bath …To any description and to our official hotel website and to partners written w/c with shower. How to keep a room without any information ??
C) Is respectable to decide not to visit us in the future but is not to throwing mud..in a place that every day stayed 152 persons with breakfast 140 for dinner and over capacity till 16 September
D) Yes .. I feel very disappointed because every day I care about the old lady ( disabled person ) and saw her the ramp and help her for the steps to come in and out of the hotel because her family was out…….that’s the rewarding when you offer services and you want to PAY you the legal and not more… like the room that they wanted to stay more after check out 12.00 o’clock and we charge them 35€ (this review is the penalty for my place because I charge them the legal 35 euro!

“Left after 2 days”

I booked a 10 day break at the Arion Hotel after reading the reviews and expected to be enjoy my long awaited holiday.
The views from the hotel were fabulous, the room was very clean and roomy, sadly the beds were incredibly uncomfortable.
The breakfast was very tasty especially after the memory of the dinner, we had two meals and each one consisted of overcooked very fatty meat, salads and bread.
We made a mental note to eat out in the future, could not appreciate the greek food we had come to savour.
When we tried to venture outside, two beaches were accessible, we looked in the village, we found 2 small supermarkets and a couple of tavernas, there is no where to get money unless you take a taxi to Argassi which will set you back 38 Euros.
The travels which are recommended by the owner cost twice what you would pay in the next towns, albeit it will cost you 40Euros on top and the buses do not seem to exist, I was told that if I was fortunate enough to get a bus, there will be no buses returning.
We also did not find the staff to have the Greek friendliness I have been accustomed to and we decided to move to a more populated area of Zante rather than be miserable in this hotel.

Room Tip: We had sea views, but the beds were rock hard

First of all to thank you for this review because gives me the opportunity to promote our place us better us we can and to say that To Arion try to offer to our visitors GOOD MEMORIES ..
I read carefully this review & I have to say first of all that we are very sorry that we couldn’t satisfied you and hopefully to return back to zakynthos because zakynthos is a place for all the kind of travelers …
That’s mean that we have places for clubbers ,for families, for couples ,for ….etc
If you had read carefully the reviews of the last year (us you write ) you have to understand that this place is for quite and relaxing holidays ..
We don’t have clubs and extremely night life us you wanted the first night that you came to the hotel and you take taxi after 2 hours to move to Argasi village for Fun .
Is a small village away from the center with traditional people and food and lifestyle ..
This place and Arion Is a Unique resort that we offer memories ..
For us you are not a code number …but is difficult to see that in 1 and half days that you stay to our place …
This year Arion has already prepare nice events and happenings that keeps your interest all the week and you can find to all the social networks videos & pictures ..
We are all staff and place in public view with pictures and videos but please if want to be critical please don’t do this behind a cartoon picture and a fake name …Then the people that ready this review can understand better who is behind this letters and draw their conclusions.
I waiting all our guest to write reviews to this forum and to have a nice commnunication …regards spyros

“Nice & Peaceful....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

We arrived at the hotel around miday and was greeted with a pleasant welcome from Spiros and Miriam. We were shown up to our room by Alex and was pleased to find we had been given what we had asked for (high floor, double bed & pool view). The hotel was very nice, big airy rooms and a lovely pool/bar area. Breakfast is the same everyday, simple but edible with as much to eat as you want. The bar area is small on the inside but there is lots of seating outside in the shade. Nice for an early evening beer before dinner. All the staff were very helpful and we were always greeted with a smile and a little chat. The day bar staff (I think his name is Bobby) and the day/evening staff Taos & Alex were always readily available to serve/assist you. Many a nightcap shared with all before bedtime.

If you are looking for a nice peaceful holiday then Vassilikos is for you.
