we are a greek young couple and we were very dissapointed. the junior suite with sea view was just one room and no sea view.you could only see the sea quite far from the top floor of the hotel.upon our arrival at 18:00 the toilet was not cleaned!!!i had to complain to get a proper cleaning the next (!) morning and nothing else for the rest 2 days.the air conditioning was not working properly, the first night i complained at the reception and they told me that i was not doing it correctly, the next day i complained again and they came to the room to see that they didnt have the right remote control.even then though the air conditioning was poor.the tv control didnt work and they didnt replace it during our 3-day stay. the breakfast was poor with limited choices.As a couple we enjoy travelling and most of the time we stay in 4 and 5 star hotels.but here...only the price was luxurius....130euro per night..definetely not worth it. imagine how many times I had complained that when we checked out the receptionist didnt even ask us if we enjoyed our stay!!!!!!!if we hadnt gave our credit card upon booking via internet we would have changed hotel the same night...

The things that I liked most about this hotel were the design of the rooms and the lobby, huge terrace of our junior suite, and the views of beautiful Gerakas bay, which is our favorite beach and main reason why we keep coming back to Zante.
On the other hand, the best feature of the breakfast area, located on the second floor is again the view, as it is surprisingly plain with rather ugly chairs, compared to the other areas in the hotel. The breakfast was average, but I’d advise the owners to improve quality of coffee and beverages served , as they were of poor quality.
Also, the pool area is nice, but the water is not crystal clear, but somehow brownish , and I think the reason for this has something to do with water supplies, as you can notice the same thing while having a shower in the bathroom.
The staff, in general, although polite and trying to be helpful, seems as if they are amateurs and not trained professionally for their jobs. The rooms were cleaned properly, and towels changed every day, but they somehow lacked the fresh smell and white color, as if the detergent they are washed with is poor, or they simply do not use enough of it.

This hotel indeed is perfectly located if quiet and relaxed holiday and being close to best beaches is your priority, but it is not the best choice for those who wish to go to the town in the evening or are keen on nightlife.
I will certainly go back to Zante, but chances of choosing the same hotel are 50/50, and so are my impressions about it.

This is a lovely place to relax in, clean and well equipped rooms with great balconies. The beach is about a 15 minute walk away. Ideal for a very lazy break.

Have just returned from a week's holiday at the Belvedere. Unfortunately if you go out of season they don't mention to you when booking that the whole hotel has practically shut down. The advertised snack bar was shut permanently - drinks cabinets, ice cream cabinets all emptied. There is no "cocktail bar", instead you can be greeted with empty shelves and cabinets with all the chairs stacked into one corner. If you ask for a drink the receptionist/waiter/cleaner will run down three flights of stairs in an attempt to find one for you. I'm afraid Fawlty Towers springs to mind. On the plus side we had the pool to ourselves nearly everyday although with no hope of obtaining a drink or a snack in the searing heat with two children we tended to visit the nearby beaches, all of which are beautiful. Luckily we stumbled across Johanna who runs the local post office/mini market. She is a jewel of a find. She speaks perfect English and is incredibly helpful. She also has three stone built villas for rent of which I would highly recommend.

The food in the Hotel is appalling. We ate for one night only although again, most of the choices (of which there were only three mains) were crossed through as being unavailable. The supposed soup was a greasy thin mixture with bites of grey chicken floating in it. Don't even think of eating here.

Local Tavernas are on the whole very good although would recommend a car as if you want to get out and about you're a bit stuck without one. Again, Johanna supplied us with a car for a very good rate.

The Island is beautiful, the weather was fantastic and I would definitely go back again but never to the Hotel Belvedere.
